As much as i hate joke character like Cube, Block, Sandbag, Hogger, etc to advance, i still can't force myself to vote against Solid Snake. My vote is for Snake this round, sorry MM.

Wasn't obvious to me. The character who would advance were obvious, but I thought that L had a shot at first. But tomorrows match, I can't see any possible way it won't be Snake > WCC in that order

L-Block is the most over character ever to grace these contests, both as a face and a heel.

Could well be!

Part six-hundred and twenty three.

The Topic of Happiness lost count somewhere around there.

I believe the Topics of Happiness started somewhere around Part 622.6 :)

transcience
I'm kinda disappointed here. I wanted to see L-Block go down spectacularly, not to Pikachu. this is just weird as hell.

Dude, he's not just losing to Pikachu. He getting DESTROYED by Pikachu.

Before the match I would've wholeheartedly agreed that Pikachu would be a highly underwhelming way for L to go out, but it's the level of the destruction that's stunning. This wasn't even really in doubt after the first 70-90 minutes, and in my eyes Pika was a fairly clear favorite only 20-30 minutes in. That's fairly spectacular by my standards.

Samus/Crono/Vincent/Pikachu might be the most jacked up match ever.

No kidding.

...I think Pikachu is just weird. I think he's nonlinear, sorta, kinda like what we think of Chief.

Except that Chief's nonlinearity Zombie Myth (the unfounded myth that doesn't die) has been re-dispelled this year once again. Basically, Chief has never been nonlinear - or if he has, it's been only slightly.

Pikachu however is a very up-and-down character, no question. The much better parallel for him is Big Boss, however, in that there's "Good Pikachu, Bad Pikachu". Pikachu's strength is highly volatile. But with Pikachu it's hard to predict which one you're going to see.

red sox 777
Pikachu currently has 61.17% on Alucard. Last round, Pikachu and Falcon combined for 62.86% on Alucard. Pikachu is still going up, and may end up quite close to that number.....wow.

Well, you do have to factor in Last Place Factor. And just general 4-pack contest wonkiness.

PegasusLover123
One thing is for sure, this match will really mess up calculations and X-stats,

Hahaha...messed up x-stat calculations in a 4-pack format? No, really? ;o)

TRE was the shortest, but let's come up with something crazy.

Frog > Liquid Snake > Alucard > Kratos > L-Block > Riku > Ryu Hayabusa > Zero > Ryu Hayabusa > Jill > Ocelot > Jill > Kirby > L-Block > Ryu > Auron > Sonic > Crono > Mega Man > Solid Snake > Knuckles > Magus > Ganondorf > Luigi > Bowser > Yoshi > Fox > Pikachu > L-Block

Match LIII: Mega Man vs. Weighted Companion Cube vs. Solid Snake vs. Zero

Last Round:

Mega Man – 36.51%
Weighted Companion Cube – 28.62%
Tidus – 22.75%
Nero – 12.12%

This was very similar to Crono/L-Block/Ryu/Amaterasu was last round. Mega Man had no problems defeating Cube while like Ryu Tidus did nothing to stop the Cube. The only difference here was that Nero completely died here instead of holding his ground like Amaterasu did. With L-Block being eliminated Cube is the last joke character standing, will fans begin to rally behind it?

Solid Snake – 43.55%
Zero – 21.40%
Vivi Ornitier – 21.10%
Ryu Hayabusa – 13.95%

I guess Snake and Hayabusa have a significant overlap for some reason, which allowed Zero to take advantage. However Vivi didn’t let Zero walk all over him and Zero actually needed a late push to actually remain alive. Snake was amazing last round and is showing that he will make the finals again just as long as he keeps up with those performances.

Analysis:

Snake and Mega Man seem to never get enough of each other making this the fourth time they have met. Mega Man may lead 2-1, but Snake is looking to tie that score tomorrow and hopefully lead next round. WCC is the final remaining joke character though having a path so similar to L-Block this could be its last match, but there seems to be a Zero in the way.

After his performance last round it looked like Snake would take first despite this round being the sprite round and the second Bacon cancelled the sprite round it became a foregone conclusion. Snake seems to thrive in this format and with the release of MGS4 he is only stronger. Besides his main competition has LFF to worry about.

As lucky as Zero is to be in this match like last year his competition is too tough. The only thing he will be doing in this match is holding Mega Man back. The last time they met was back in 2004 where Zero got about what was expected of him against Mega Man, but looking at the vote totals it had one of the lowest vote totals in the round and round 3 of 2004 had four overlap matches. Low vote totals in one on one are usually a sign that LFF will occur in four-ways.

Mega Man can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that joke characters aren’t as strong as they use to be, but he isn’t out of danger yet. The overlap between Mega Man and Zero could be enough for WCC to pass both of them. X being in the contest could soften the blow that Mega Man receives and while people are aware of the contest a large portion aren’t meaning that X being in the bracket shouldn’t affect this match by a lot.

WCC doesn’t look so good after seeing L-Block’s performance today, though it still has Mega Man/Zero LFF to work with. The year joke characters don’t seem to be as static as they were last year though if Snake takes a big enough portion of the vote and if Zero holds Mega Man back enough this could end up being an upset, which could then trigger an internet rally for next round. Last round Mega Man defeated Cube 56/44 and turning it around with LFF may not be hard to do.

I still think WCC should be the favourite going into the match, though with L-Block’s performance Mega Man does have some hope. If only Vivi had taken the upset then this match could be interesting. Still I’ll be cheering for Mega Man to take down the last joke character remaining.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Solid Snake > Mega Man

charmander6000’s Prediction: Solid Snake – 35.32%, Weighted Companion Cube – 24.25%, Mega Man – 23.83%, Zero – 16.60%

I've seen a bunch of people call for an MM overperformance... I'm just not seeing it. Yeah, what Pikachu is doing to L leaves the door open, but the voters clearly consider L a completely different entity from WCC, and MM's still got to deal with Zero. And I'm not seeing the average voter differentiate too much from Snake and Mega Man on the 'obvious favorite' tiering. Maybe it's my personal inability to accept Snake underperforming in a match (even if it's a "true" underperformance and not indicative of his strength), but... yeah.

my opinion is that Mega Man can beat down Zero worse than he can someone of comparable strength, much like Cloud beat down Sephiroth in this format. as such, we're looking at two strong guys and one weak one -- a situation that's actually beneficial unless Snake eats up a huge percentage, which is very possible.

Frog > noble nine.

I think Mega Man's going to be fine. He beat by WCC by a wide enough margin last round, and I don't see Zero being too detrimental to MM, not like what their 1-on-1 match would imply a few years ago. Guess we'll see here in a minute.
