Also it's crazy that after Block took first in a match that he
wasn't favored to win (Ryu/Meta/Dog), and the near unanimous consensus
was that he was even more of a lock than last year... this is
happening. How... bizarre. I've gotta imagine brackets played a significant role in that Round 1 result. I also felt that brackets were the reason block underperformed (lololol) in Round 2 and expected him to bounce back slightly today because of it. This is just... well, I can understand a second wave of bracket anti-voting, but what Pikachu is doing suggests he can take Ryu. Maybe Pikachu can take Ryu....he got fairly close to Luigi in round 4
last year, and Dante/Leon didn't LFF each other too badly this year,

7 users fell off the Top 50 today. Iubaris, dexter28, ProfitProphet,
KrazyHokage, SenpaiDessus, Biggoron5 and Arkayo did not have Samus >

Never before have I wanted to be more wrong in my entire life. But
it is pretty crazy how this contest has gone from "Pokemon sucks" to
everyone loving it in 6 short years. And this was well before today's
match. Well that's easily explained. Look at the demographic of the site. I'm probably one of the few hold-overs from 6+ years ago, and I highly doubt people my ripe-old age comprise a high % of the site. Conversely people who are of the right age to have enjoyed Pokemon as a child (and some still to this day, nothing wrong with that) most likely comprise the largest age demographic on this site. People like things that they liked as a child, it's just the way things are. Why do you think the Ninja Turtles and old school NES stuff started to become popular and appear on T-shirts and things again at places like Hot Topic a few years ago? Same logic can be applied here. I'm not sure what today's youth is into though, as I only was familiar with Pokemon because I have a brother that is 10 years younger than I. --- Detroit Red Wings 2008 Stanley Cup Champions! |
