On second thought, ZSS probably won't hurt Samus much in this format
because it's unlikely people who don't recognize her in that form would

It's only in 1 of 4 plus she's pretty much naked, so hopefully it won't
affect her too much. Samus definitely got hosed in the pics though, and
in the 3rd she's struggling for a spot in the pic. Still shouldn't

Hmm? Tifa would lose votes to having 2 other characters in the poll
too. Both Samus and Tifa are left with their "hardcore" fanbase, if you
will, while in Samus/Tifa ZSS only pushed Samus to her "hardcore"

Saying Samus doesn't depend on the Power Suit for a good portion of her
strength is like saying Big Boss's strength doesn't change if he gets a
Naked Snake pic. At this point, it's easy to say that neither statement
is true. Big Boss is still pretty strong with the old man pic (Almost
as if everyone suddenly realized that he was Naked Snake last year),
but he would've stood a great chance of at least placing last round if

her due to Brawl. In 2006, I think that was just early Brawl

Nah, I doubt that had anything to do with it. Otherwise, you can't
explain what happened to Snake that year. You can't claim everyone got
hyped up about Snake being in Brawl and then say no one recognized the

I'd go so far as to say Samus is more dependent upon her power suit than BB is upon Naked Snake. still I don't think you're getting his point Leon. He's saying it should be significantly lessened because it's a 4-way, and all of her competition is pretty decent. If you were to vote for Samus over Vincent/Ganon/Gordon there's a good chance that you'd vote for her power suit or not. There's a lot more apathy/pic dependent votes in 1v1's when there aren't as many people to choose from. --- all hail ec your lord and savior |

I'm just hoping people are saving the best for last. Otherwise they're
exhausting ideas that have already been hit or miss just 4 matches into
it. Still feel like it was too early to be busting out free form and/or
multiple pics, but that's just my opinion. It's hard to compete with
the old fashioned 1v1 match pics anyway. --- Should I start running now? |

Well, Samus goes from being potentially able to give Sephiroth a fight
(depending on who you ask, of course) in the Power Suit to struggling
to beat Tifa without it. That's still a drastic difference, potentially

Is it just me, or are these match pictures just getting progressively
worse? Those must have been the only 4 pictures submitted, because with
the possible exception of the first one, they are the worst pictures
I've ever seen. The best match pictures are the simplest. Something a
lot of people don't seem to understand as they either try to cram as
much crap into the picture as possible, or do something gimmicky and
stupid. The best user created picture IMO is the Crono/Mario pic from 2005 which just has them staring eachother down. Maybe I just have a lower opinion of Ryu now. He lost to Crono significantly worse than Zero did, and Hayabusa beat Zero in round 1. That is one of the more nonsensical results this year, but take a look at that match and the most nonsensical match from last year, Pika/Dante/Leon/Ammy. What is the common denominator? Clearly Amasgasdgaseru is Capcom Cryptonite --- I want adventure in the great wide somewhere... I think that Round 3 should just have one pic accepted. We are getting
some of these crappy ones due to not enough people submitting pics so
theres gonna be a good deal of crappy ones... but pick just one, and

So Mario and X are moving on as predicted. Still X is having a strong
showing in this contest despite the fact that he's supposedly just
another mega man (though imo they're very different). Next match we have Samus, Ganondorf, Vincent and Gordon. We've seen last ground that Samus can easily crush Ganondorf. Its Vincent and Gordon that will be the more interesting ones to see in the match. Vincent has always been fairly strong in these contests, but Gordon has the Orange box boost this year which helped him defeat Scorpion. I suspect the match result will likely be Samus>Vincent but considering Gordon's performance he might make Vincent fight for it.
