Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. Damn, I'm gonna fall off the leaderboard after today. That sucks, it
was a nice run, and with any luck the WCC will get me back on there,
but I never expected X to have such a good run. Not sure why, maybe cuz
I picked my bracket on a whim, and didn't give it the time I will next

Luigi (2007c) VS Mario (2007c) Luigi has a strength of 29.78. Mario has a strength of 42.07. Mario wins with 64.61% of the vote! A win of 41,778 with 143,012 total votes cast. Mario and Luigi so far at least aren't too off what you'd expect of eachothers strengths. Well its clear Luigi aint taking 2nd but at least he's letting his
brother know that he's had enough of being in his shadow. I am
surprised that the SFF isn't as strong here as it was last round. Did
Zelda really tap into Mario's fanbase? X is performing as well as some expected, but it seems he wont be threatening Mario's lead like he did last round. Fox is just that strong. Going back to Zack/Luigi, Zack broke 30% on Link twice, and I seriously doubt Luigi is worth that much on Link. And I remember lots of discussion about Zack in 4-packs with the likes of Sora and other characters at Luigi's level or higher.... --- Crono's quest to kick L-Block out of this contest: Round 3: Crono vs. L-Block vs. Pikachu vs. Alucard |

Mario isn't advancing out of the semis with Link and Samus there.
Crono, Vincent, or L-Block (probably L unfortunately) will be going to
the finals with Link barring Zack pulling off the upset next round
letting Samus to the finals. If that does happen.....with Link and
Samus in the final.....Cloud > Link upset train let's do this for

Hmm....looking at yesterday's match again, I think I'll have to lower
Zack's chances next round to unlikely. Even under double SFF, Mario and
X will still draw more votes away from Zack than Duke and Altair, so
the best Zack can hope for really is 20% or so. That could be enough if
Link decides to SFF Mario and X like he should, but Link didn't SFF
