Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. Don't get me wrong, I don't have Link > Snake in the final, I just
think it could happen. Snake was looked real strong this year. Then

Tomorrows match will definently show some things about Zacks strength,

So we see Tifa behind Kratos thanks to Sephiroth but she isn't too far
behind him either. The question is who has the stronger day vote,
Kratos or Tifa? Also this RE boost seems to have finally died as Jill is in 4th here, although it seems many people here don't even think its Jill in that pic even though it's from Umbrella Chronicles. Tomorrow's match is likely a runaway as Link and Zack will likely lock 1st and 2nd place respectively. So that will likely be one of the more boring round 3 matches. The Match after that though will be interesting to say the least as we have the Mario Bros, X and Liquid in the same match. The main prediction is Mario>X as people believe Mario will SFF his little brother into the ground. However we're not sure about 2nd completely since Liquid Snake is there as the only non Nintendo character so he may have a good shot for 2nd. So while this may seem like going too far ahead, for the Mario, Luigi, Liquid, X match what are your predictions? --- BC: 0774-7368-9787 name: EDS "Casual player" so dont count me in for no item matches. |

Oh you know what, forget this, I'm gonna lose a lot of points later on
here anyway. I've got Cloud > Snake in both the quarter and
semi-finals. That isn't going to happen thanks to Squall (assuming he's
there) and Sephiroth. Sigh... should've taken more time with the
bracket and avoided those errors. Cloud could overcome the SFF factor from Squall (if he's there) but probably not Sephiroth. --- Detroit Red Wings 2008 Stanley Cup Champions! |

Nah, while Cloud looks like he's closed the gap some since 2006, he's
still looked less impressive than Link so far. As for last year, as
much as we all wanted it to happen, Link should have been a heavy
favorite after he put up 45% on Crono/Vincent/Zero. Cloud's round 4

Yeah, Cloud/Link would probably be closer than 2006, but that's more

You know what's funny, I just noticed. Assuming Kratos takes second here (kinda iffy) every divisional final will have one character from each R1 four pack.
