...Auron would still be beating Sonic, but in more of a 51-49 match that would be interesting to watch. Regardless, this is a stand-out performance by Auron...even if EC thinks he's under-performing! Nah, I don't think he's under-performing... I just don't think it's particularly impressive. Well at least I didn't earlier in the night. If Auron wins with 5000-6000 votes, I'd say he's performing up to expectations, or better put, what he should be doing. He's just flat-out looked stronger than Sonic. It doesn't matter if everyone jumped on board or not, it shouldn't be considered a wacky, crazy, or epic upset so much that I'd call it a "stand-out performance." I'm thinking he's going to surpass even my expectations at this point however, or at the very least he'll be towards the upper-bounds. So while he's doing slightly better than I expected, I'll just call it a solid performance. --- all hail ec your lord and savior |

It doesn't matter if everyone jumped on board or not, it shouldn't
be considered a wacky, crazy, or epic upset so much that I'd call it a
"stand-out performance." A non noble niner beating a noble niner by 5000 votes is a big upset, even if some of the contest people called it. Auron (2006c) VS Sonic (2006c) Auron has a strength of 34.68. Sonic has a strength of 38.70. Sonic wins with 55.19% of the vote! A win of 13,727 with 132,145 total votes cast. Auron (2007c) VS Sonic (2007c) Auron has a strength of 34.73. Sonic has a strength of 36.54. Sonic wins with 52.48% of the vote! A win of 7,380 with 148,981 total votes cast. He hasn't been stronger last two years. It was a sexy upset pick, but its still an upset that Auron beat Sonic regardless of what you say. --- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v410/RyanSaotome/rydia.gif http://card.mygamercard.net/aero/Albion+Hero.png |

Doesn't matter what perception was, reality is Auron's been stronger for the last two years. Sonic looked fine in 2006. He beat Crono who beat Auron. On Auron/Crono/Megaman/Sonic: Now: Crono > Megaman, although I'll entertain Auron placing (very outside shot at first even) as I think he's the most independent character there. I doubt Crono overlaps with him more than he does with Megaman, although there aren't any severe overlaps here. After CTDS: Crono > Megaman still, with Crono taking first easily, and Auron again having a shot at second. --- Crono's quest to kick L-Block out of this contest: Round 3: Crono vs. L-Block vs. Pikachu vs. Alucard |

this is really a shameful performance i expected Sonic to lose but not by like 5%. he could very well end this thing below 30%.... Auron is looking like he's really the stronger one...i'm not even sure if Sonic would beat him one on one anymore. |

With my four-pack, I saw some people suggesting
Auron/Crono leeching, which is fine...but I found it a bit interesting
people weren't calling for Sonic/Mega leeching each other, too. I don't
know if I would, but they're both huge old-school mascots of the
platforming genre and live largely off of their reputation and older
games. I wouldn't rule that out. Whatever the case, I'd probably go with Auron > Crono for now and Crono > Auron after CT:DS (assuming it has even decent sales). --- BT about Round Two: If Snake gets 43-45%, I'll close my account right now. www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3285 |
The Mana Sword | Posted 11/3/2008 10:05:50 AM | message detail |
I'd still take Crono over Auron here. I think we all assume that
Vincent > Auron and Crono only lost by about 1700 to Vincent. It
would be close, but I feel like Crono would still edge that one out
even if it's only barely. --- Kleenex - Not on his computer. |
__hiei__ | Posted 11/3/2008 10:07:16 AM | message detail |
Megaman > Crono seems right for now... i believe Crono and Auron
would leech (very slightly), with Auron being hurt mostly and ending in
last place barely below Sonic. after CTDS Crono > Megaman even with the leeching. |
H__RR____H | Posted 11/3/2008 10:20:35 AM | message detail |
Thing is, I don't think Crono would be beating Sonic by ~5.5% right
now. You can even take Sandbag out -- I doubt Sonic's any closer than
~3% behind Auron in his best circumstances, which I think would be
pushing it for Crono to match. I also think more highly of Auron than others do in some ways (couldn't take this upset, but I would have taken him to beat Squall for awhile now), so maybe my opinion's off and I don't realize it. Still, I'm with the idea of Auron being the next guy behind Vincent...and if Vincent can beat Crono last year (and this year too!), Auron's close enough to Vincent for me to take him in an upset. Today helps that idea. --- BT about Round Two: If Snake gets 43-45%, I'll close my account right now. www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3285 |

I think I get how you people operate now - losing to a non-Noble takes
precedence over everything else, right? After all, that's the only way
MM could still be getting so much damn respect here - even though the
biggest non-Noble threat he's faced in the last three years was
freaking Sora. @_@ That's okay though - he'll be in the same boat as Sonic and Crono once Zero beats him next round. ^_^ --- turnturnturn your brain in turnturnturn your brain in |

wouldn't rule that out. My guess would be that MM/Sonic would have the largest overlap in that pack, followed by Crono/MM, and only after that Crono/Auron. Looking at it that way, I think I'd consider Auron the favorite over MM for second. --- Crono's quest to kick L-Block out of this contest: Round 3: Crono vs. L-Block vs. Pikachu vs. Alucard |

Yeah, any Mega Man respect (with respect to his fellow Noble 9ers or
even those directly under it) is too much at this point. I still
consider Mega/Sonic to be a toss-up, and the fact that they put up
eerily similar performances against very similar competition
(Cube/Tidus/Nero vs. Sandbag/Magus/Shepard) bolsters my confidence.
Mega Man would also be getting his ass kicked today, and would probably
lose to Auron 1v1 as well. --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

Well, I was wrong about this match being close. Sonic still has a
chance to make things a little closer, but that is a pretty impressive
performance by Auron regardless. Based on his numbers against Sub-Zero,
I'm hesitant to place him above 33 on BL, which does not look good at
all for Sonic's placement. --- "All you base are belong to us."--CATS |
