Last year aside, I don't buy for a second that Mewtwo can easily double
Ness and only barely lead Midna naturally. I think Cloud is playing a
part of Mewtwo's strength here. Cloud is THE icon for RPGs and Pokemon
is Nintendo's FF...I can see a little bit of SFF hurting Mewtwo

It's a bit hard to swallow, HaRR, but I do see where you're coming
from. At this point, it's either that or believing that Midna has
finally managed to draw some Zelda support. I should note that as of
right now, she's barely putting up 25% on Cloud, which is about how
well she did in the last round. She'll obviously look a bit worse when
all is said and done, but the fact that was able to stay relatively
static against Cloud despite facing two Nintendo guys is pretty

Hopefully Mewtwo can survive this so we can see how he holds up next round. Midna can make for an equally interesting story, though. She can draw from a base scarier than anything Mewtwo can muster. Heh...This match basically reaffirms what I said about Altair - that
anyone can look good against crap competition - and applies it to

I still like Mewtwo to round 4 even with this. I mean, once Midna goes,
he should be able to pull ahead of SFF'd Sora. His pic's probably

I entertained taking Squall out of this division, but I figured Yoshi
was a lock to be in that match, and I figured Mewtwo would be too

Geez Mewtwo hasn't pulled away yet? I thought for sure you guys said he'd pull away after the Power Hour was over. Now that i looked over the pics, i think i have a weird and likely bogus theory. Looking at Midna's pic some would swear that it bears a resemblance to Frieza from DBZ, and imo that's where her mass votes are coming from, DBZ fans who see this DBZ style pic. --- BC: 0774-7368-9787 name: EDS "Casual player" so dont count me in for no item matches. |

Yoshi wasn't a lock and (while calling him rubbish is...rubbish) Mewtwo not holding Yoshi back were two reasons for entertain taking Squall out...entertaining Squall's not a reason to entertain Squall though. Two out of three ain't bad, but one out of two kinda is! And with Snake/Cloud/Squall/Mega Man being the likely round 4 match, looks like we could see Mega Man > Cloud! You have a real necessity to be ridiculous. He beat Companion Cube bad enough that I don't think he should have trouble taking second next round, and I have a feeling Zero isn't going to hold up nearly as well with Mega Man 9 being out. Yeah, MM1 and MM2 hit the VC and MM9 hit every console, and the
majority of the topic realizes it still didn't really help the Blue
Bomber...and BT's the only one who thinks Mega Man boosted from it,
fully attributing it to MM9 and saying it will do so much as allow Mega

Well a supposedly LFF Mewtwo would have been expected to perform 1.5%
worse than what Mewtwo is doing now plus Pac-Man has turned a 62.5/37.5
match into a 55/45 match. Even Altair was still able to almost double
Lucario (I know Marth was there, but previous results show that

I kinda wonder how true that is now though, about Pokemon fans sticking
together. Lucario barely beat Isaac and was drilled by Marth, Mudkip
did surprisingly bad this year against stronger competition compared to
last year (Mario >>> Luigi, Ganon > Zelda), Bidoof was a
joke (as was Mudkip last year who dropped), and Mewtwo's not doing so
hot against Midna right now. We saw Pikachu hold up well to Luigi last
year and seen him beat Ike and Alucard-despite-CF, but the rest? It's

Just for the record, MM1/2/9 has in fact helped Mega Man some. I mean,
look at Zero. How the mighty have fallen. Mega man's at least
conistent, perhaps having boosted a little. We'll see next round how he

After the last round, it feels unusual for Mewtwo to let Pac-Man get so
much closer this time. I mentioned earlier that I thought Cloud may
affect Mewtwo, and judging from his poor performance right now that may
be the case. I don't see how you go from getting 69.55% on Ness to
51.31% on Midna or 37.49% on Pac-Man in R1 to 45.16% on Pac-Man in R2.
Cloud is the face of RPGs and Mewtwo is a RPG fan-favorite. Though they
each come from separate companies/series, they are each very popular
and will overlap, not to mention that Square/FF7/KH/KH2 will mean a lot
more to RPG fans than Nintendo/Pokemon R-B-Y/SSBM will. If you also
believe Pokemon characters are supposed to be pretty static in
comparison to other characters (which I like to believe, but don't know
its current merit), then this should look all the more odd. Just saying man...Midna isn't this much more respectable than Ness, Pac-Man's improving a lot, and there's plenty of reason for Cloud and Mewtwo to have a lot of overlap.
