So, for all the talk about Nintendo sucking it up this contest, it
really only seems that the Mario characters are really hurting. I mean,
Link's been fine, Zelda held up well against Mario, Samus is doing

Mario characters were the ones who benefitted most from the Nintendo
Boost in 2005. Link went up less than 1% against Cloud that year, and

I said it earlier, Pikachu looked his worst in round 2 due to Vivi/Tidus both being from mainstream RPGs. | When I originally compared Cloud's opponents to
Link's and saw how Link had scored 53%, I was all ready to give Cloud
52% here. I mean sure, Zidane bombed, but Square always rises to the
challenge against Nintendo and Zack went out and proved that with a
solid performance in that match, one I was sure none of these three was
going to match. Plus Link had to be limited by sharing at least some of
his Nintendo/Brawl support. Cloud on the other hand got to stand out
against three (basically) Nintendo opponents, two of which were sure to
hurt each other a good bit, and none of whom figured to do anything
