Match XLIV: Cloud Strife vs. Midna vs. Mewtwo vs. Pac-Man Last Round: Cloud Strife – 59.80% Midna – 20.37% Miles Edgeworth – 12.27% Axel Steel – 7.56% I wasn’t expecting much from Axel, but I guess the only thing Guitar Hero players care about is the songs that they are playing. Despite having much weaker competition than Link it was surprising for Cloud to do much worse, but in this contest it seems that it’s hard to get a high percent even against weak characters. Midna did a lot better than what I was expecting though I was also expecting Axel to give her some competition. Mewtwo – 41.83% Pac-Man – 25.09% Ness – 18.31% Travis Touchdown – 14.77% Even though it was supposed to be an easy match for Mewtwo to take he still managed to impress. Ness on the other hand had the majority of brackets supporting him yet he had more of a match against Travis than Pac-Man I guess even Mewtwo can take a chunk out of him through SFF. Pac-Man shows that he has strength just as long as he stays away from icons. Analysis: While the results shouldn’t be surprising they will be important for determining the winners of next round. With the failure of Yoshi advancing a certain weaker Nintendo character can take advantage of triple LFF and survive the division. Cloud should have no problems walking through this match. Being one of the strongest characters in the bracket Cloud has no worries until at least round 4 and even that match could still be debatable. The only question is whether Cloud can manage to get over 50% again. I don’t think that Cloud has the power, both Mewtwo and Pac-Man are much stronger competitors than Edgeworth and Axel though getting into the upper 40’s shouldn’t be a problem. The scene is set for Mewtwo, Yoshi will not be meeting him in round 3 and instead Sora will be there can Mewtwo use triple LFF to sneak into round 4? Well Mewtwo is going to have to prove it in this match. Last round he did great though his opponents were low mid-carders, but if he’s able to repeat that impressive performance against Cloud then it is highly possible that Mewtwo can pull off the upset. The real match will probably be between Midna and Pac-Man. Midna had a great performance last round though combining that with Cloud’s supposedly underperformance you could make a case that Midna was overrated because of the competition and that she will perform worse in this match. Will she go back to her 2k7 levels? Probably not, Twilight Princess has had a year to sink in and fans of the series are finally accepting that this isn’t the best game ever created. Between the two I’d like to think that Pac-Man would be favoured to beat Midna though Cloud may put a wrench into Pac-Man’s strength. Outside of GameFAQs I would never consider Cloud to be an icon, but since this is GameFAQs it could be possible that people on the site see Cloud as an icon. I don’t really agree with the proposal, but if for some reason Pac-Man decides that he wants to look like he did last year this could be the reason for it. Basically all this match is about is to see whether or not Mewtwo has what it takes to steal a win against triple LFF. Actually, Crono probably does have the 3rd best chances of any Noble
Niner to win a contest, even if they are very very low. Sephiroth will
never beat Cloud, Mario and Samus will never beat Link, Megaman already
has hundreds of games so new releases won't help him much, Sonic is
likewise already known by almost everyone, and I'm not sure how much
higher Snake can go now that he's had SSBB and MGS4- he's still way
below Link. Crono has as much strength as he does off of one game that
has comparatively little exposure (and he has more strength than Snake

Crono just needs CT:DS to be a big hit and sell well all through '09,
and from there he only needs to make it into Kingdom Hearts, the new
SSB, and star in Crono Break which sells 10 mil and wins GotY, all in
the same year, and I'll have to give serious consideration to taking

I'd only need CTDS to sell and be received well and for him to have an
important role in KHIII to consider taking him over Link. Just look at
what SSBB did to Snake- he went from under 43% to over 55% on Megaman,
helped by MM dropping some. He went from being bottom rung of the NN
for 2 years to smashing Sonic with 55%. Crono could very well gain as
much from a KHIII appearance- and look at what KH did for Cloud and
Sephiroth, 2 characters with far more previous exposure than Crono. Add
in a major boost from CTDS (especially since it will be the first
release of CT in Europe), and Crono beating Link is possible, or at
least more possible than for the other members of the NN not named
Cloud or Sephiroth. And since Sephiroth has no chance of beating Cloud
even if he somehow beat Link (maybe with an FFVII remake), yeah, I'll
stick to my statement that Crono has the #3 best chances of any Noble

I think we can safely say that picture is making Squall underperform,
and Yoshi is looking like crap no matter how you slice it. Still, good

Can't wait for this next matchup. If Mewtwo blasts his opponents
(except for Cloud) like he did last round, he just might have a chance
to sneak through one of the Noble Nine through triple LFF. From what the analysts say, Midna shouldn't be as strong this year after the TP craze has died down however for this match she has drawn a good pic.
