Actually it could be possible that Squall/Sora don't have as much
overlap as we thought. Last year we saw Squall go from barely beating
Sora with Aeris to having an easy win without Aeris and when Sora was
taken out Squall didn't gain that much more on Sonic. There may be some

Which is why I think Sora pretty much has to place in that 4-way match.
He's probably the weakest, maybe 2nd weakest character of the bunch,
but not by much, and he's by far the most independent. 1v1 strength I'd
go Squall > Auron > Tifa = Sora. Squall and Tifa should have the
most severe split with FF7/8 being same console and so closely tied
together. I could see Tifa screwing things up with 26% of the site having FF7 as their favorite game of all time, but I'm banking on the FF having a brain and abandoning her for other awesome FF characters. I'm pretty confident that Auron gets first in that match actually. I'd go with Sora for second, but I could easily see him getting completely obliterated and finishing a distant 4th as well. --- all hail ec your lord and savior |

Is everyone forgetting that Squall didn't hurt Sora last year or
something? This has nothing to do with Square being stronger. Fox is
hurting Yoshi, and Sora is taking advantage of it. That's all. What the hell are you smoking? Sora went from 46% on Mega Man in 2k6 to 38% on Sonic (who was pretty much exactly as strong as Mega Man in 2k6) one year later for no apparent reason? Sonic who has proved again and again that he sucks balls in this format? You can't seriously believe Squall isn't hurting Sora here. I agree that this isn't super-impressive from Square -- I had pegged the two to be around 60% combined. This is more surprising in how well Fox is holding up IMO. And Yoshi/Sora/Squall are all on the same tier, with Fox right behind them. All four being really close is not surprising at all. The only thing surprising here is Fox holding up well to SFF, and that can be explained by him being a God in the Smash Bros series. I'd definitely say Squall's on a different tier than Yoshi is, but as mentioned before that may depend on how broadly one defines tier. --- Those who speak do not know, those who know do not speak - Soviet adage |

Well considering that directly Squall actually did slightly worse on
Sonic without Sora than with Sora it's a strong case for there being

Squall clearly hurt Sora in the match with Sonic, as has been pointed
out before. The reason Squall didn't beat Sonic outright is because, as
we've seen with a certain other character, SOLID ****ING SNAKE
mixes up things a bit. Yeah, Snake didn't noticeably hurt him in their
1v1 encounter, but that doesn't mean that there's no fanbase split, and

Something tells me that Sonic might surprise us. I'm not expecting
Auron to blow past Sonic without so much as a struggle. Vincent is
stronger than Auron, I'm sure, and he had to fight tooth and nail to

Indeed, alot though that Yoshi was a sure pick for 2nd considering that
Squall and Sora were in the same match so a little SFF happening but
yet it shows its not enough for the dino to take down Sora. As for tomorrows match Cloud's a surefire pick for first, but as for Mewtwo do you think he'll blast Midna and Pac-Man to oblivion or will he have to actually fight for 2nd? --- BC: 0774-7368-9787 name: EDS "Casual player" so dont count me in for no item matches. |

Mewtwo blasted away Pac-Man last round, so I would hope he can do it

(from Noble Niners no less), is letting FOX to this to him? where the
hell have all the mario fans gone? Sora holding up to Squall isn't as

Mewtwo has a chance to beat Midna worse than Ness and Pac-Man's not
going to pose much more of a threat (if any more). The only way Mewtwo
fails to impress is if Cloud SFFs him because they're popular RPG
characters...and if that happens, well, **** hits the fan for awhile

No i don't think you're crazy on that. Although i'm not good with contest stats here's my prediction. Cloud 52% Mewtwo 28% Pac-Man 11% Midna 9% Although Midna is in a Zelda game not all Zelda fans know her. Where do you see the overlap? Sora Vs. Tifa, I'd go with Sora at this very moment. If nothing KH related happens this year, and the match happens next year, then I'd probably switch to Tifa. Then again, there has to be a reason why Tifa didn't make the contest last year. I think she's going to fall like Aeris, but I have nothing to back that up other then Aeris herself. Sora/Squall/Tifa/Auron, easy. Squall > Sora. Squall will take the FF vote for actually being a likable main character, plus is the favorite in KH. Auron only has FFX to fall back on, and that won't be enough especially with Squall taking most of the series vote from him. Same deal with Tifa, although she has FF7 to fall back on so she should finish in third. Sora is getting stronger every year, and since he has an independent fanbase outside of FF, I'm pretty sure he'll be able to finish in second. --- Good Times, Great Memories |

It was pretty obvious last round that Sonic was being LFF'd by Sandbag from smash support Or he suffered because he's weaker in these types of contests and had to deal with the same problems that every NN faced with (not living up to expectations in the first round). Yeah, Squall > Sora looks pretty good to me right now for that
fourpack. Replace Tifa with Vincent and I wonder what happens. Vincent
> Sora, possibly. Seeing these occasional cuts on Squall makes me so happy. The only thing that annoys me about this match is that the one time I cave in to pessimism and put Squall > Yoshi in my bracket, Yoshi goes and sucks. But hey, at least my Oracle looks pretty spot on! My bracket's been terrible since division 1 round 1 anyway, heh. --- Attention, all yoctograms! (It's x2) DIE! |

This is an amazing performance from Sora. He's gone from 39.3% on
Squall last year to what is looking like a surefire 46%+. The fact that
he's doing this despite two characters who likely hinder him a (very
tiny) bit more is even more impressive, although Squall's picture must

Sonic won't beat Auron this round i don't buy this SFF from some object in a game where sonic was only there as a guest at all. however Auron just seems plain stronger than Sonic this format. |

I say that Squall would beat Auron, and Sonic already beat Squall twice. Sonic has reason to go up this year, while Auron doesn't. I don't buy Sandbag really significantly affecting Sonic either. The
only thing that could change my opinion is if Auron doesn't just beat
