Zero could hold up very well. I just don't think that's probable. It is the problem, because theres only so many Mega Man voters. If Zero holds up, it'll hurt Mega Man, putting him below WCC. And stats have shown that Zero holds up well enough to consider it rSFF. Vivi wouldn't effect Mega Man at all, helping his cast for second. And this really wouldn't be that weird. Zero doing poorly => Mega
Man's chances against a relatively static Cube go up. Pretty simple. %=/=votes Let's say with Vivi there, MM would get 30,000 votes compared to Cube's 30,000. They are even. Take out Vivi, add Zero. MM gets less votes due to LFF. Even assuming the best-case scenario, he probably only gets around 27,000. However, Cube gets even more votes due to less variety in the poll and more apathy votes being thrown around. MM's % is better due to Vivi holding up better than Zero...but he still has less votes. | I want Zero to advance this battle, but i don't want the cube to advance its next battle. This sucks. If Zero advances, then it might split the fanbase amongst MM fans. |

| Yeah, it's definitely not certain that Zero would
get destroyed by SFF, but there is certainly precedent for it in this
format: compare Sephiroth/Vincent last year and Sephiroth/Tifa this
year. Vivi wouldn't effect Mega Man at all, helping his cast for second. This is not true. There are fans of both Megaman and Vivi, and this group is substantial. Think about it. The argument for Zero helping Megaman is that he will take fewer votes from MM because even though their overlap is bigger, Zero's total will be smaller. Vivi will take votes from MM and Snake. Let's assume for argument that Snake beats MM 55-45, and Vivi is no closer to one than the other. Then we can say that if Vivi were gone, MM would receive 45% of his votes. Now let's say Zero is taking all of his votes from Megaman. If he were gone, MM would receive 100% of his votes. If 100% of Zero's votes is lower than 45% of Vivi's votes, MM will get a higher percentage. WCC is static, so this helps Megaman. If WCC is not static, then, well, the more he behaves like a regular character, the better Megaman looks, because he is stronger normally. --- Crono's quest to kick L-Block out of this contest: Round 3: Crono vs. L-Block vs. Pikachu vs. Alucard |

So somehow with Zero there, more Mega Man fans will be created over night? Look. More. Closely. Don't try to force absurd statements out of nowhere into the logic you're debating against. I'm getting tired of this, but basically it boils down to this: Vivi and Zero are roughly equal strength. Vivi *definitely* hurts Mega Man against WCC. So does Zero, because he's independent from Cube too, just like Vivi - but there's a good chance Zero hurts Mega Man a lot less than Vivi does, because he might be SFFed a lot. Yes, and Vincent was SFF'd into the ground in a situation where he
obviously had no chance of placing (like Zero next round) and where
Sephiroth needed the votes (like Megaman). Again, I'm not saying it's
certain or even probable that Zero gets SFF'd hard enough for MM to

As a Mega Man fan supporter I'm not worried about this, I mean it was
obvious that the Cube would beat Tidus in both rounds. Give the block
some real opponents and it will die. Of course if Sonic is out in this

Put it this way. Cube takes 28%. There's 72% left for the other 3,
Snake will claim half of that and MM/Zero will split the rest. Unless
Zero really gets destroyed and dips well into single digit %'s MM
doesn't have a prayer. It's a very high level few but the point is that
MM just isn't strong enough to overcome a challenge like this while

Nah the Cube won't get 28%. That's what it got yesterday and Snake and
Zero will obviously take away more votes from it than Tidus and Nero... The Blue Bomber only needs to get 1/4 of the votes, with a Mega Man 9 sprite I doubt that will be any trouble. --- Ngamer64: Zylo, you're making less sense every day. The 2008 Guru contest winner > Me |

This is what I project for Vivi being there: Cube - 28% Snake - 32% Mega Man - 28% Vivi - 12% Mega Man will get a tiny bit higher 28% and advance. For what it's worth, not only did Zero resist SFF/get rSFF on Mega Man,
but MMX > MM in every MM-game/series/design poll. They were all
multi-choice polls too (though they were by and far the top two), so
that's more odd for Zero to suddenly get stomped by Mega Man. It
doesn't hurt that MMX is in the contest now so maybe MM doesn't get as
much MMX-support as he always had. Both ideas have cred, but Mega Man hurting from Zero's presence makes more sense to me. --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |

I don't exactly frequent this board a lot or pay attention to trends
very much (heck, I assumed Zero would knock Vivi away with ASV)
but...as we push back into night and the last 4 hours, is Vivi going to
have a chance for one last comeback as he's about to be overtaken by
Zero? Also, I can see arguments on both sides for helping the destruction of the Cube next round...but I think the bottom line is that we know Zero will likely pull more votes away from MM than Vivi would. I just don't see MM pounding Zero so far into the ground that having Zero there would actually aid him more than having a unique yet relatively weak Vivi. --- "Only a fool trusts his life to a weapon." - Gray Fox |

The Mega Man 9 board is split on this one. Half of them don't realize
that Zero winning almost guarantees a loss for both characters in the
