Match XLI: Weighted Companion Cube vs. Tidus vs. Mega Man vs. Nero Last Round: Weighted Companion Cube – 32.21% Tidus – 31.72% Donkey Kong – 21.25% Miles “Tails” Prower – 14.81% The possibility of WCC placing was there, but placing first is what caught the board off-guard and we can’t even say that Tidus choked because his performance was great. Donkey Kong on the other hand keeps his title of the ultimate choker. Next year let’s put him up against Shadow. Mega Man – 51.19% Nero – 24.03% Banjo – 13.28% Captain Olimar – 11.50% Mega Man was one of the few characters to break 50%, but given his opponents it would have been a surprise if he failed to do so. Along with other Brawl only characters Olimar choked, he was suppose to challenge Nero yet he couldn’t even beat Banjo. Nero had an impressing debut and he could pose a threat to place. Analysis: Another joke character managed to do really well and with nothing to challenge it we may end up with our second joke to advance to round 3. Of course this is far from a lock; both Tidus and Nero could give it some trouble. Mega Man shouldn’t have any problems getting first in this match. Even if WCC is heavily static Mega Man should still take first. The only reason I can see it failing to get first is if WCC gets a rally that could rival L-Block’s rally and given that Portal isn’t as famous as Tetris I don’t believe that this will be possible. By stealing the win WCC is the favourite to get second. Like other joke characters WCC has a core fanbase that will probably vote for it over anything else. What that core fanbase is capable of is still up for discussion, but since WCC defeated Tidus and Tidus will probably drop more than WCC the only character WCC should be nervous about is Nero and even then Nero only has an outside chance. Another way WCC could lose is that it gained the apathy vote because none of his opponents are fan favourites and people wanted to vote as a joke. Personally I don’t believe that it will true, but it’s a possibility. While I think Nero has a better chance at getting last it also has a better chance at defeating WCC than Tidus. Both Tidus and Nero had a common opponent, Mega Man and while Tidus had a better performance their match the match took place in 2004 and since then Tidus has probably dropped. Of course Mega Man is probably nowhere near his 2004 strength, but if his drop was less than Tidus’ drop we could see Nero not only upsetting Tidus, but also passing the cube. It’s a long shot, but again it’s a possibility. Tidus I don’t know how you did it, but you were able to look good and bad at the same time. What I do know is that you won’t be advancing this round, if you couldn’t beat WCC last round why should you be able to do it this round? All Tidus has to do is not embarrass himself and lose to Nero. For the second time in three matches another joke character will qualify to the next round. Too bad they are on opposite sides of the bracket; it would have been interesting to see if they would weaken each other to let the other two options go through. 18 people fell off the Top 50 today. PartOfYourWorld, ChemicalDragon,
Silent_Alarm, prdwong, shaneh87, KrazyHokage, Dragoonskill91,
RipvanFish, zsaszz, evyugi, miniver, Crono801, Haste_2, TheTBlock,
PIaystation, Wht_Lens, C3M2R7S3Z6 and hochimnih157 did not have Pikachu

At least Mega Man > Cube will keep me up there one day longer :-) There's a handful of picks I would've changed, but I tinkered with my bracket and submitted it at almost the very last minute, so I don't have Big Boss, Mewtwo or Auron advancing like they almost certainly will later on this week.
