Yeah. Ganon's LTTP sprite isn't too bad. It's not nearly as good as his artwork, but it'll be better than the Zelda 1 mess.

Kinda funny in a way this match. We have Frog here and he's only 400 votes behind from advancing (aka: he's in a close match), and yet, we're not caring in the slightest bit since we all know the miracle's not happening.

Nice performance by Frog, trashy one by Nightmare. Frog might end up below 20% by the time this is all said and done because he's facing three day characters, but still solid. I'll take Vincent > Samus next round regardless of who's there, by the way!

...Not even sure if my bracket has it, but I'm takin' it NOW! That's right! Actually, I'm not that confident in it, but if Falco's there, I'd almost call it a lock.

Personally, I'd say Nightmare's doing pretty well.

Here's his match last year: (Snake / Nightmare / Zero / Riku)
http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/drupal/node/22?matchnum=2908&num=4

While Samus / Snake and Riku / Frog may be debatable, we at least know Ganon > Zero, so this is probably a better pack than the one he was in last year. Last year's match, he didn't even break 14. Here, he probably reaches 15%.

Last year he didn't have Samus and Ganondorf SFFing eachother.

As for this talk of Vincent > Samus, if Mega Man couldn't do it with Yoshi in the poll, then Vincent definitely won't with just Ganondorf.

Yesterday's chart:

Time | Mario | Zelda | Mega Man X | Sadkip
EBV | 31.32% | 19.46% | 30.87% | 18.35% | (0:00-0:05)
PHV | 28.23% | 19.12% | 30.53% | 22.12% | (0:00-1:00)
FNV | 28.66% | 19.79% | 30.94% | 20.61% | (1:00-6:00)
BSV | 32.99% | 21.00% | 27.99% | 18.01% | (6:00-9:00)
DSV | 32.45% | 20.61% | 30.41% | 16.53% | (9:00-14:30)
ASV | 31.87% | 19.85% | 29.04% | 19.24% | (14:30-22:00)
SNV | 28.92% | 20.31% | 33.66% | 17.11% | (22:00-24:00)

Huh, Mudkip lost the board vote. Looks like Mario won it, though he didn't do so well after that. He had an unusually bad Power Hour. In fact, his night vote was slightly better. Mudkip was the only one who did better with the Power Hour than he did at night. Zelda didn't have a great Power Hour either. X has a pretty bad morning vote, but does better with the ASV. Mario makes a noticeable leap come morning time and never slows down until nightfall.

Yesterday's stats:

Mario – 50.00%
Mega Man X – 49.13%
Princess Zelda – 39.29%
Mudkip – 37.82%

Division 2, Bottom Half

Mario – 50.00%
Mega Man X – 49.13%
Princess Zelda – 39.29%
Mudkip – 37.82%
Knuckles the Echidna – 34.05%
Lloyd Irving – 26.68%
Fei Fong Wong – 25.78%
Tom Nook – 16.00%

Zelda actually did 1.5% better directly against Mario here than last time, so I decided to give her the better value. I thought about giving Mudkip his first round value, too (since he did about 2% worse on X here), but it makes him slightly stronger than Zelda, so I decided against it. Looks like Fei vs. Lloyd would be a debatable match!

Also, with how Mario and Mudkip did slightly worse on Zelda and X (comparatively) by close to the same amount, I wonder if there wasn't a little LFF there. Perhaps Mudkip would've beaten Zelda if Mario hadn't been there.

Yeah, Frog is still gaining on Nightmare at about the same rate Ganon is on him, and he's twice as far ahead. Ganondorf will have to make a killing with the ASV to do that, and Nightmare will have to start cutting at least a little bit.

That's only if we look at Nightmare looking at what Samus is getting on Ganondorf now and what Ganondorf got on Frog last round Samus/Frog is pretty close to last year's two values. I think Nightmare just flopped.

Well, Samus is going to end up comfortably over a doubling on Frog: yes, that's the best showing Frog has ever put up on her, but I expected rather more from Samus/Ganon LFF. Certainly it is impacting Ganon more; he put up nearly 65% on Frog last round and it looks like he will wind up with 55% or so today. Ganon is also now 3% or so behind his 2005 performance against Samus.

Nightmare is going to be hard to place on the x-stats then. If we go by what he got against Samus in round 1 then he's above adjusted Frog, We can't really use Samus round 2 since she's being LFF and if we use an adjusted Frog we'll end up with Nightmare being below Crash.

This makes me feel a bit better about Samus even if she's facing a triple split with Falco in the mix, but I still have to consider Vincent the favorite in that scenario based on what we've seen. I can only hope that she'll be further aided by a cool Super Metroid sprite while everyone else gets junk.

no that was MARIO SFF not Nintendo SFF silly

the sad thing is I'm serious

I can only hope that she'll be further aided by a cool Super Metroid sprite while everyone else gets junk.

Samus' performances with her SM sprite include an okay Rikku performance, letting Sora (mildly) overperform on her and getting obliterated by the guy we nearly saw lose to Mega Man X. This isn't even going into her original Metroid sprite performance last year - as a matter of practice, thanks to SSB/MP Samus is probably the Noble Nine character least helped by sprites after Snake.

Luigi > Dante
Vincent > Mario

Dante was beastin' in his first round match, and that was with ridiculous rallying just slaughtering his %. He's on the heels of DMC4, and Chief just look awful. I'd take Dante and Chief over Luigi with a fair balance of overlap in a match, but it's way too geared towards a Luigi over performance to not have him in first. Then I just think Dante's stronger than MC this year, though I could certainly still be wrong.

Vincent > Mario seems pretty obvious to me... dunno.

Also never say this match sucks again. Anytime Samus beasts (always) it's a marvelous match.

As for Samus/Pigboy/Vincent/Not Falco, I'd feel pretty good with Samus > Vincent in that match. Seeing what Samus is able to do to Ganon this round is all the confidence I need for it. Throw in ganon sprite and yeah, it should only do her favors. Vincent's first round performance wasn't too great, and we saw how he fell apart against elite competition last year. Granted this isn't quite the same caliber, but Samus should be able to eek it out.

Replacing Not Falco with Falco, it becomes much cloudier, and I'd expect Vincent to be the favorite, but I'll let my Samus fanboyism still take her, but narrowly.

Yeah, but what if Vinnie gets that ugly dark thing he got against Crono?

He still put up 45% on Crono (back when that meant something) and, in retrospect, proved to be the strongest non-Noble that year with that match.

Put it another way - make it Samus Aran vs Vincent Valentine without pictures, and I'm fairly confident VV gives her a scare. Samus is much more dependent on her badass design than any character outside of the Ryu Hs and Altairs of the world.
