Looking at the updates, this isn't so much as X folding as the day goes
on as much as Mario finally doing what he should be doing. Mario is

yeahhhhhh mario I wasn't surprised to see Mario in the lead when I woke up, but I was surprised to see how fast that comeback was. Good ol' predictable MM dying once the sun starts to rise. Even Zelda is beating the Kip. Really great stuff for her today. Zelda really lucked out with her bracket placement this year. For all
we know, she would have really disappointed us if placed elsewhere
(say, against Squall), but she was blessed with non-Link Nintendo

Mudkip isn't doing much of anything except for that totally legit "spike" he had right before 11. I would say perhaps Celda doesn't hurt as bad as WW Link. Link's problem being adult Link is rather badass and toon Link decidedly less so. In Zelda's case who cares if the damsel in distress looks cutesy. Or maybe people have finally gotten over it like they SHOULD have. --- Should I start running now? |

I'd take X over any Nintendo character outside the big three. I'd also
take him over OG Mega Man and Sonic. I would have definitely taken him
over Crono this year, but I'll have to wait to see how CTDS is

Interesting. With Ganon > Zelda being likely Zelda's fanbase being
tugged in two very different ways, I figured X would be more contested
by Ganon than that...and since Ganon isn't so far from Vincent who is
arguably a Noble Nine breaker and Mega Man was arguably the weakest of
the NN when we last saw one-on-one matches in 2k6, seeing MMX and MM
compare to one another almost always leads to some kind of
controversy...so it was worth a shot. It's all good though. I can't argue that MMX looks great today, regardless of the circumstances. --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |

Before cementing X > Mario in R4, it's worth noting that Link has
SFF'd Mega Man in 2004 and LoZ has SFF'd MMX in the Series Contest;
Zelda couldn't SFF Mega Man in 2003 and she doesn't embody the series
like Link generally does. We've also seen that -- while MMX can stand
up to Mario -- Mario also stands up to Link. There will also only be
two Nintendo characters in the poll instead of three, so waiting until
the next round may be wise before cementing anything; MMX has to be
able to do what his NES/all-embodying counterpart and his series were

Whoa, X and Zelda doing really well. Mario and Mudkip doing not so well. Uhhh...X > Liquid next round, anyone? But let's not jump on the X for Noble Nine bandwagon yet. This is like when people were calling for Zack > Aeris 'cause he got the equivalent of 30% or so on Link. You can't trust SFF matches. They're not reliable. Not trying to take anything away from what X is doing (I voted for the guy and all), but still, don't jump to conclusions quite yet. Man, I wish I hadn't changed from Squall > Sora to Squall > Yoshi. Didn't really drop off too much during any one time period, though he obviously did better during night character time periods. Due to the shortened Power Hour, Nintendo characters didn't even drop off that much into the night vote. Phoenix Wright is still a night character through and through. Yesterday's stats: Liquid Snake – 50.00% Luigi – 47.69% Bowser – 42.59% Phoenix Wright – 38.12% Division 2 Top Half Bowser – 50.00% Luigi – 49.96% Liquid Snake – 45.43% Phoenix Wright – 34.64% Roxas – 32.48% Geno – 26.81% Deckard Cain – 24.27% Sho Minamimoto – 16.95% Bowser gets a slight edge over Luigi through comparison of Liquid and Phoenix, who beat out Roxas here. Kinda surprising, I guess. That may be what you'd expect the Blue Bomber to do, but it's still
speculation. Nothing's been thoroughly proven yet. If Liquid can do
something similar to this next round, you'd have to blame the LFF and

So Mario's got the lead, and the after-school vote hasn't even kicked
in, in which MMX should lose out greatly to Mario (and Mudkip).
Hopefully Mario should be able to put him away, which shouldn't be too
hard if MMX couldn't get the lead up to 4 digits in the morning. Will the after-school vote push Mudkip to a third place finish over Zelda? Looking at Mario > MMX > Mudkip > Zelda, I guess, although Zelda's lead is still steadily growing.
