Anyway, yeah, it's quite possible Luigi will hurt Mario worse. That is, of course, what everyone's first instinct would be. Hmm, funny, it's not my first instinct. Yeah, Luigi is not going to roll over and die against Mario. He'll get
SFFd, but after how badly he beat Bowser I doubt he ends up looking

Explain Knuckles not doing any better than he should've last round, then. So perhaps it was you that I read making those kinds of incredible statements. Knuckles got hurt by Mario (and perhaps Zelda) himself. Not Link/Shadow style, but an element of Link/Shadow. Thus Mario/Zelda hurting each other wasn't enough for him to do great. People who think Zelda is going to hurt Mario more than friggin Luigi need to get a clue about how SFF works. Good grief. Like I said, it is a possibility - I didn't say it *would* happen. And denying the possibility is nuts. These contests are unpredictable enough, and this is Mario franchise/Zelda franchise overlap vs. Mario franchise/Mario franchise overlap here. It's definitely possible, even likely, that Zelda hurts Mario more than
Luigi does. All it would take is for Luigi to be weak enough against

Luigi will hold up all right, I guess, considering how huge the overlap
is (right down to the design). but he's still gonna be in last by a

Wow the once Iconic Mario has really fallen far this round. Do you truly believe that Brawl actually hurt him? If Mario does better against X next round... well I don't make account bets especially with myself, but that's about how confident I am, if you catch my drift. Luigi should hold up very well. There's not really anything to support him folding here. Luigi has his share of fans, and does really well in the favorite Mario character polls... and he's got the solid 4-way contest history (yesterday's thrashing of Bowser should make a believer out of you) to back him up. --- Master Chief's quest to defeat Cloud: Round 2 - Raiden/Big Boss/Kirby. I'm thinkin' Luigi holds up well next round. Lots of people who prefer
Luigi over Mario, so I wouldn't be surpised to see him really screw

Bowser easily avoided a tripling. I don't see how you'd expect Luigi,
who is proven better with SFF, to not avoid one and easily. I doubt

I can see Mario thrashing Luigi next round simply from the Nintendo
fanbase realizing he needs their votes to beat X. That's not to say it
will happen, but it wouldn't surprise me; voters do follow the contest

Well your first instinct may well be dead on. Anyway, on my first bracket making run, I had X>Mario next round because of the obvious LFF. But then a short while later I changed my bracket, because I thought "whoops, X>Mario, that's insane". On the little thought I gave it, I figured Mario would probably SFF Mega Man X anyway, like Link did to Mega Man. And if Mario can SFF Samus, he should be able to SFF Mega Man, and Mega Man X should be the same (although looks like X may not be as SFF-vulnerable as Mega himself; we can't be sure at this point but it's possible). But on seeing this match's initial results, I was like wow, we will see X>Mario next round after all!
