I *really* like X here. Trends have not only been subdued overall, but Mario
character shifts from day to night have been downright pathetic. If X
builds up a substantial lead overnight, I can't see him folding enough

Mega Man is really frontloaded. I doubt he can take it. Think Mega
Man/Samus's first encounter last year, that's probably about what

And also, here are all the 1st place "favorites" last round. It's
pretty split between over and underperforming. Nothing there really

Uh...Mega Man 9 boosting things named Mega Man (hence Zero not winning)
to epic levels plus Brawl deboost on Mario and site shift away from
Nintendo and for last round, first round joke votes more prominent than
in others plus voter recognition of first place making favourites
underperform... Given how odd it is trying to justify half the things this contest has done, I move that we simply dub anything that doesn't make sense the result of the WTF Fanbase Factor, or WTFFF, the factor that influences people voting in ways that have no logical connection to anything seen before. --- A season of our stolen youth shall teach old hearts to break ~Primordial-The Coffin Ships |

This MMX start is fun to watch and all, but people are getting a little
TOO excited given how early this still is. Let's not forget that MM
jumped out to a 169 vote lead on Samus last year... before losing by

I'm not saying Nintendo doesn't SFF itself. What I am saying is that Nintendo doesn't LFF itself. LFF happens because there isn't enough of a fanpool to draw from. Two popular Nintendo series duking it out should have no problems with a sufficient fanpool. | I don't know what'll happen next round, but I
suspect Mario will do better than this next round since I think Pokemon
and Zelda will be more resilient to SFF than Luigi. That said, Luigi's
closer to home for Mario than Zelda/Mudkip...and, honestly, Luigi might
try something crazy by the whole "Player Two" syndrome he's got... ...but I'm not so sure on that. I figure whatever happens this match will happen again next round, Liquid be damned. --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |

Luigi 'Splitting With Bowser' Mario / Liquid Snake Not to mention MGS day votes all around have been better this contest. Still a disappointing day vote, but not the best comparison either. It's not about the split - Liquid should have still fallen hard relative to ALL the Nintendo crew. Instead, he barely lost ground. As for the rest of the MGS crew, you've got Solid who has SSBB power (and Big Boss who utilizes the same thing via proxy)... and then two pretty disappointing days in Raiden and Ocelot. let's do this with numbers: I don't think Luigi would get 20% of the vote here, which is what Zelda has. Link/Mario/Sephiroth/Vincent should be sufficient proof of Nintendo
LFF, if you don't take yesterday's match or today's as evidence. While
being LFF'd by Vincent, Sephiroth still got within 5% or so of Link,

No one is denying that Zelda is leeching Mario. Zelda leeching Mario
significantly, or more than Luigi would do...that is where the problem
lies. Huh. I thought I read someone say that she wasn't. No one did? Anyway, yeah, it's quite possible Luigi will hurt Mario worse. That is, of course, what everyone's first instinct would be. Speaking of next round, Liquid should do pretty well - everyone who's
played MGS knows his polygon model. He'll be going up against three
characters with AWESOME sprites, but that's about as good as it gets

Honestly, I don't see why anyone would think Luigi is just going to
roll over for Mario, anyway. Luigi does pretty well in those favorite
Mario character polls, and proportionally (meaning taking into
consideration Mario's initial strength advantage) he might've SFFed
