If he wants to add that stipulation, let him. I'm fine with Hayabusa or
Vivi being alongside Solid if Samus can still cleanly beat Mega Man

As having both Solid and Mega be two of probably my three favorite
characters (hello, Knuckles!), I have little doubt Solid destroys Mega.

Agreed. I won't pretend to know much about the FFVII fanbase, but
the concept of a character who was in the game for all of five minutes
(right?) beating a significant playable character is a difficult one to
fathom for me. The thing is, while that's true, he's the main character of Crisis Core and is pretty awesome there. And I know it's a handheld game, but the more I think about it the more it makes sense to me that a lot of FFVII fans would have gone out of their way to find a way to play it even if they didn't have a PSP. I think it's a little misleading to treat Zack as just an NPC. That said, I don't think he'd beat Tifa either. Aeris I'm a little less sure of, because it seems like there's a significant portion of the FFVII fanbase that doesn't like her. --- Attention, all yoctograms! (It's x2) DIE! |

I'd be very interested in seeing Link/Zack/Samus/Crono (Link > Samus
seems pretty obvious with Vincent there, unless Vincent SFFs Zack into
the ground). I know it's very unlikely, but I really hope L-Block is
more like a normal character now in more ways than just trends, and

Link > L has nothing to do with Link. It'll take either L's fanbase
faltering somehow or something like WCC making the finals for Link to
pull that off - if not, it won't matter. Cloud will just kill his

Cloud killed Kefka last year Cloud was going to kill Kefka anyway, and he only did slightly worse by direct comparison on Marcus Fenix from round 1 to round 2, which you can chalk up to random variation and increasing the level of competition. People keep bringing this up, but it's not an argument for SFF at all. In fact, I'd say it argues against New/Old Square SFF. And to answer KP's first question: People care about Zack, just like we kept telling you. Shocking, isn't it? By the way, don't get too carried away on Zack hype. I'll just say that now. Wait until he has a legitimate match (a.k.a. next round) before we start jumping to conclusions. After all, this is a double LFF match. Can't draw TOO much from it. And while Ocelot somehow still lost to Jill, he looks stronger than
last year, I'd say. Can't really back that up with numbers, but he did
get 40% on Kratos, which may or may not be better than he was expected
to get. Can someone confirm that? Either way, Jill pulled off a big upset, regardless of what excuses you want to make about last year's match. She shouldn't have won, plain and simple. Just REFAQs seems to be in full force around here, and no one could've predicted that! 3. Didn't like 5 people offer to take BT's bet already? BT turned down an offer from HM because his ZFS account wasn't two years old...when it was one year and eleven months old. He then turned down Soul's offer due to "hearing" that Soul backed out of an account bet. My account's older (I think) and has more karma (for sure) than either of them and even BT's account, and I've never bet an account before. Let's do this BT... ...and I'll stop this as soon as you answer me BT. Zack is doing much better here than in his first round performance, when in his first round performance he had one of the biggest pic advantages of the entire contest and was up against apathy central. It still blows my mind Zack's doing this well. As odd as this sounds,
FF7 alone couldn't have done this for him. I don't really know how FF7
and CC:FF7 compare to Zack as far as where he gets his strength from,

He was being LFF'd in round 1 by Cecil, it's hard to get a very high
percentage in this format, and Wario is holding up quite well today
against Link. As for the pic, we had no real evidence, only
speculation, that the Buster Sword would help him all that much. In
retrospect, the kind of voters who wouldn't know who he is without
seeing the Buster Sword are probably not the kind who would vote him

There is absolutely no way that FF7 got him this far. FF7 are very
supportive of their characters, but not this supportive. Could you
imagine Cait Sith or Barret doing this well? Zack is an NPC. I think, however, that Crisis Core may have 'reminded' the fanbase of Zack, so to speak. The thing is very few people actually like Cait Sith. Barret would be a
decent midcarder, with more than enough strength to take second without
difficulty if he were in Zack's place. CC probably helped Zack some,
yeah, but really, FFVII fans know who he is- 10% of the site has beaten
FFVII more than 10 times! It's the same argument with Vincent being an
optional character- and while Vincent is playable, he's also far less

The Vincent argument isn't the same as Zack's. Vincent being an
optional character doesn't matter because he's still a playable

I'm pretty damn positive Zack is stronger than Cait Sith, and very
likely Barret as well. Red XIII I don't know - I think Red would be
stronger, but it's hard to say. He never had his own game. Crisis Core was very significant for Zack. On the joke stuff, 'Random piece of Final Fantasy VII Furniture' - listed exactly that way on the poll - would do damn well. Also, I think I said this after last contest - the best Final Fantasy franchise proxy for '?' Block would probably be the 'Attack button'. Let's count the ways that Chocobo's come into play in gaming. They are PLAYABLE characters in FFT. There is a chocobo character in FF4. You can control chocobos in FFX.
