A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it.

For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. They have everything.

Thinking there would be a "MGS4 boost" was a logical follicle. The only people who played MGS4 were people who would already be voting for these jokers come contest time.

this actually makes sense lol

Seriously though, where did all the females go this year?

And yeah, Riku looks like he's got a chance again to able to take 1st next round if the Dante / Leon split is big enough and Dante takes away that Leon boost.

It does kinda make sense. Most people who have MGS4 bought a PS3 for it, so they were more hardcore MGS fans to begin with.

So there's no MGS4 boost? Sure. We all know Raiden was Mr. Popularity and could easily do this well with just MGS2 to fall back on.

This actually makes no sense. Based on this logic, no one should ever boost based on a new game.

Many people who played RE4 had never played a RE game before. Many people who played FFVII had never played a FF game before. Many people who played OoT had never played a Zelda game before. You cannot apply this to MGS4 and it's niche fanbase

Yesterday's chart:

Time | Nana | Ratchet | Sephiroth | Tifa
EBV | 13.71% | 14.50% | 40.34% | 31.44% | (0:00-0:05)
PHV | 12.71% | 13.63% | 42.70% | 30.96% | (0:00-1:00)
FNV | 10.15% | 12.32% | 45.80% | 31.74% | (1:00-6:00)
BSV | 10.23% | 14.18% | 47.60% | 28.00% | (6:00-9:00)
DSV | 10.37% | 15.27% | 47.54% | 26.81% | (9:00-14:30)
ASV | 9.94% | 13.89% | 48.81% | 27.36% | (14:30-22:00)
SNV | 9.45% | 12.89% | 49.34% | 28.32% | (22:00-24:00)

It's amazing how two characters from the same game can have such different trends. Sephiroth does badly with the board vote and the first hour, but it was all up from there. Tifa was strong at night, but she dropped off pretty big during the day. Ratchet's still more of a day character, and Nana sucks even worse after the first hour.

Yesterday's stats:

Sephiroth – 50.00%
Tifa Lockhart – 37.63%
Ratchet – 22.78%
Nana – 17.98%

LeonhartFour | Posted 10/18/2008 9:38:01 PM | message detail
Ocelot was obviously caught reloading there. He'll rebound!

and if you werent tone deaf or plain out deaf, you could kind of tell it was Ocelot all along anyways, since he....sounded like Ocelot instead of Liquid.

Honestly, I think the Liquid voice in MGS2 was more for the benefit of the gamer so he knows which one is supposedly speaking. If you notice in MGS2 when Liquid "takes over" the first time, Snake doesn't realize what's going on at first, even though you can clearly hear that voice.

That's not really solid logic.
