there's nothing really to talk about here.. this is basically the exact
same as Axel's match, but Magus has made no move. as I said, it's
tougher to come back on a joke than a KH character. KH guys pretty much

Match XXX: Auron vs. Marcus Fenix vs. Rydia vs. Sub-Zero Information: Name: Auron Game/Series From: Final Fantasy X 2007 Results: 1st in round 1, 1st in round 2, 3rd in round 3 Auron had a strong start last year though being placed in the same division as Cloud caused his performance to be worth nothing. Auron easily defeated strong characters such as Bowser and Ryu, but with Cloud in the poll he had an early exit. This year he’s heading to the same fate against Sephiroth though this time he has a chance to cause an upset. Name: Marcus Fenix Game/Series From: Gears of War 2007 Results: 1st in round 1, 2nd in round 2, 4th in round 3 Marcus was in the same match as Auron in round 3 and now they meet again. Marcus like Amaterasu was one of the surprise new comers of last year’s contest and with a good bracket placement he was able to make it to round 3. With Gears of War 2 being released in three weeks will hype play a factor in this match? Name: Rydia Game/Series From: Final Fantasy IV 2007 Results: Did not enter The third and final character from Final Fantasy IV though in the past few days the amount of strength she has is becoming questionable. Cecil was crushed yet Kain was able to put a great performance. New Square characters have never interfered with Old Square characters performances are they now? Name: Sub-Zero Game/Series From: Mortal Kombat series 2007 Results: 2nd in round 1, 2nd in round 2, 4th in round 3 Sub-Zero had a predictable route last year though for his first round match he was able to impress by getting close to Sonic, then Sonic was announced for Brawl where he then proceeded to get crushed by him twice before losing. Funny thing is if Sub-Zero makes it out of this match alive he’ll be meeting a familiar face next round. Analysis: While there is an upset potential in this match there’s something about it that doesn’t make me excited. I’m a fan of three of the four characters though the one character whose game I haven’t played yet is the one with the upset potential. If the Auron from last year shows up he’ll have no problem winning this match and even if it isn’t he shouldn’t have any problems winning either. With his performance last year and the performances of Sonic characters in general Auron does have potential in upsetting Sonic next round though he’ll have to put up a firm performance today. Sub-Zero is the favourite to come in second and really he’ll be used as a measuring stick to see if Auron has a chance against Sonic, too bad there are two very different values to go by and will be the cause of many arguments. Fighting characters seem to do well in this format and they haven’t really faltered so far. While Marcus Fenix’s performance was impressive last year he won over the likes of Kefka and pre-MGS4 Ocelot and in this match there’s real competition. Fenix does have Gears of War 2 hype going for him with the game coming out in a few weeks though personally I don’t think it will be enough to catch up to Sub-Zero. |

| After Cecil’s performance in 2005 and his
performance at the beginning of round 1 I assumed that Rydia will
follow in the same steps, yet Kain was able to impress against Raiden
and Master Chief. It’s common knowledge to say that both Old and New
Square have different fanbases, but with the DS release it is possible
that some kind of link between Old and New Square has been created. If
this is true Rydia is screwed with Auron in the poll and we may never
know the answer since with Rydia’s elimination all of the FFIV
representatives will be gone and it seems unlikely that we will see
them again unless another remake is released. Unless Gears of War 2 hype is much bigger than I thought I don’t really understand why Fenix is considered to have a chance against Sub-Zero. lol has there been anyone in the history of the Character Battle that has had a bigger fall from grace than Magus? Doubtful. From managing 35% on Link to losing to Knucles in round 1 to struggling against Phoenix Wright for 30 minutes to start, and now this...Magus sure finds a way to outdo his previous failures with a collapse for the ages. At the rate he's stinking it up, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make the contest field. --- Isaac and Princess Kumatora for SSB4!
