How is a Hogger/Ramza/Laharl match overshadowing the upcoming Sandbag match anyway?

T/F: Ramza is the weakest Square character in the contests.

POLL:

Considering the notorious rep of Sonic Team in the past couple contests, what do people prefer as the opposite of SonicFEAR:

SonicFAIL

or

SonicSUCK

Eh, I'm gonna stop worrying about the nobility of the contest, rallying, or Albion now. Been trolling for awhile, admitted troll, and I can think back on a time or two I've had a big influence on polls (hello, Mega Man/Arbiter on GFA...and hello, MyRockinProfile). Not fair for me to continue and you're no longer worth the trouble if it was fair for me to.

Not that it justifies you.

So...Sandbag > Magus. Yay or nay?

Personally...I've not seen any other debuting joke character be talked about as much as Sandbag except for one: L-Block last year. Sandbag's route is far tougher, but he has the appeal/charm and the who-wins-this-contest poll was 50-50 between real characters and gimmick characters...with 15% of the 50% going to L-Block, the other 35% goes somewhere else. We've seen that Mudkip, WCC, and The Dog don't hold up to L-Block. I doubt many people thought Hogger will win the contest, Jingo had practically no backet support to even get out of the first round, and Captain Olimar doesn't count (suck it for losing to Banjo!). That would lead me to assume a lot of people think highly of Sandbag's chances since I think that's the last big joke character left. People's opinions of who they think will win have a loose-yet-solid correlation with who wins, and -- assuming Sandbag has a lot of people thinking he's the next big joke -- he's probably going to be. Throw in the joke-precedent set now, and the foundation for joke characters are more available than ever. We've seen a LOT of unorthodox characters this year, L-Block's the returning champ, and people are torn on whether a real character or a joke character will win it all this year.

I'm gonna say Sandbag upsets Magus. It's a really weird thought.

Don't know why but for the past couple weeks I just haven't seen him being able to do anything.

I think Sandbag is going to end up being stronger than low-tier Brawl characters like Wario, Diddy, and Olimar.

And it will be hilarious.

seriously, a Final Fantasy main character (whether main series or not, its still a popular game) should be able to beat out people rallying for a random low level monster in wow. It would be like the scorpion boss in the mako reactor of ff7 winning a match

Scorpion boss from Mako Reactor 1 for 2009!

And EC, don't look at me, for starters, I don't mark posts, and secondly, I just got out of a 3 hour long database programming class (oh god kill me now)

Though I'd love to see Sandbag stink it up and bomb, I have some trouble seeing Magus pull this off.

Magus would normally rock the early vote and get a sizeable lead...but is he really gonna win the early vote against Sandbag? Not only is it power hour time, but Sandbag's board vote should be rocking.

Magus' best bet will be gaining strong percentage overnight, somehow surviving what should be an ASV onslaught, and then maybe mounting a comeback with the night vote if he needs it (which I think he will).

Why would Sandbag have that good of a ASV though? If you're banking on him to win, it's because he's a joke, not because of his actual merit as a character. I sincerely doubt all the kiddies are going to come home and go "OH MAN JOKES WE LOVE THOSE!" and mass vote him over Magus.

Granted if a single person still in K-12 actually knows who Magus is, I'd be pretty stunned, but that's besides the point.

Wrong, I did. Laharl's always been fodder (stop nominating him already!), Ramza is ancient and not that popular, and they're both from SRPG's so i knew they'd be LFFing each other.

I looked up babar and apparently it was an hbo series, and I never had HBO, so thats why I don't know it.

"Babar is an animated television series produced in Canada by Nelvana Limited and The Clifford Ross Company. It premiered in 1989 on NTV, and HBO, subsequently was rerun on HBO Family and qubo (in America)."

I think everyone recognized the possibility of Hogger winning today's match. I didn't really look at any predictions for this 4-pack, but I know every time I talked about next round potential match up of Dante/Leon/Riku, I always said "Ramza, Laharl, Hogger" because this pack was so pathetically pathetic of course anyone could have taken it.

I only picked Ramza because I already knew Laharl completely sucked, and thought he had the highest upper limit of the three, not that he'd necessarily achieve it.

I still think this is a different Laharl than the one that lost to Vyse. Ramza though seems to be at the same level he was at in 2003.

Doesn't matter what the consensus was.. I know Ramza was the favorite, that doesn't mean that people thought he was going to just blow everyone out of the water and dominate. You'd have to be pretty ignorant to think Ramza had this match locked up.

Seeing as L-Block and Cube did not fall off dramatically from their early votes this year, I think Magus wants to be ahead by the end of the power hour if he wants to win. The latest I can see him taking the lead and still winning is 2 AM, and I'd feel pretty bad about his chances if it takes him that long. One time period Magus can dominate is the DSV- CT is perhaps slightly above average there, and Sandbag should be pretty bad.

Also, I'm feeling a major Sonic underperformance here. He only beat Sub-Zero by 7% in round 1 last year, and Magus shouldn't be too far behind Subby. Add on SSBB LFF with Sandbag, and the fact that Magus/Sandbag is a highly anticipated match while everyone expects Sonic to win easily, and he might look really bad. Indeed, I wouldn't be too surprised (and I would be very happy) if Sonic were in third after an hour.
