Also, fun fact: Soma Cruz is the only member of the 2005 male bracket to not have appeared in a contest since. That was in 2006. Poor Soma. We need to see Ken and Proto Man next year. Ken should have no trouble
with SF4 coming out, so that means we need to rally behind Proto Man. Also, most of the other noteworthy characters on that list all have a big release coming up (Prince of Persia, Chun-Li, Lara Croft) --- I want adventure in the great wide somewhere... If Ryu, Chunners and Ken don't make it in next year without Board 8 support, I'll be surprised. I wouldn't be surprised to see AKUBA or Bison back either. If Ken gets into a winnable match (aka not noble 9 round one in 1v1), I
think he could be a mid carder. He and Ryu are the face of the series,

Yeah, Riku is pretty much done for next round. This isn't the same Leon

Well I've never played KH, but does Riku really have the same appeal as

Riku is actual a fan favorite within the KH fanbase for the most part,

He's pretty important, and compared with Sora? I would say he has more
appeal. Not that Sora is bad, but I kind of get a Cecil : Kain vibe

Judging from this match, this is still fine for a Riku > Dante
result next round if there is indeed a lot of overlap between
Leon/Dante. Riku is looking about as strong as Pikachu (or Vivi,

This isn't the same Leon as last year RE5 hype? There's really no other reason he'd be stronger. When discussing the Dante/Leon fiasco, people forget this: http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery/albums/cb6/cb6-54.jpg Dante, Ammy, and Leon are all characters that depend on appeal. I'm starting to wonder how strong people thought Fox would actually be Yeah. I mean, if you use that match as an indication of 1v1 strength, Sora only put up 56% on Fox, which would put Fox at... what, Alucard's level at least? stop looking at Fox - look at Chris Redfield. he's a more known quantity, somehow. and he massively overperformed. I'd sooner say Riku / KH is sucking than Leon is impressing. Yeah...as lame as it is, Riku is just...dying, for no real reason. I guess people are just tired of waiting for a real new KH game to happen, and Riku's role in KH2 wasn't exactly up to the standards of the previous games. KH3 needs to get announced or something. And Riku needs to be playable in it. >_> I still get the feeling he can repeat his round 2 revenge thing though, if only thanks to Dante. --- Attention, all yoctograms! (It's x2) DIE! |

While RE4 almost certainly boosted Leon more last year, I think it's very reasonable to assume it could still be feeding him. The game was released for $30 and can now (as of several months ago, actually) be picked up for $10-20 easy. Couple that with the drought in Wii software, and I think it could definitely be giving Leon a sustained boost. Heck, there were several Board 8ers who decided to replay the game in unison a few months ago because there wasn't anything else on the Wii.
