GameFAQs Contests
Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 594

Halo 2 had a similar distinction before-hand and GTA4 has had a
similar distinction since then, but none of them were as passionately
looked forward to on GameFAQs than SMS. It was the first true Mario
game to come in six years, the sequel to the revolutionary Super Mario
64, a blockbuster that the Gamecube desperately needed another of, and
the first of three huge Nintendo series getting controversial
innovations. The Nintendo-bias here and the lack of
Microsoft/Rockstar-fans in comparison made SMS more anticipated here. Probably, but the fact that Halo 3's hype was so huge outside of gameFAQs did lead to an enormous influx of Halo fans on gameFAQs. --- 80/96. Today : Kirby > Boss. Except you shouldn't be looking at MC/Kirby... you should be looking at Raiden/Kirby. I think Raiden is the guy to look at tomorrow. If he can do well, he's going to hurt Big Boss enough for Kirby to slip through. MC vs Big Boss is not a factor. --- Master Chief's quest to defeat Cloud: Round 1 - Raiden/Kain/Other Dude. Raiden's group is stronger... Lucas is bar far the biggest fodder in
either group and Kain is a lot stronger than Jinjo I'm sure. I especially like how most of you thought Kirby was stronger than Big Boss before this match started, and yet you're still convinced he's stronger than Raiden too. Funny how that works. --- :> |

He should still have no trouble breaking 30% with a weaker MC, 2 turbo
fodder characters and an MGS4 boost to look forward to. From what I can
tell, MGS4 should do for Raiden what KH2 did for Sora. --- I want adventure in the great wide somewhere... I want it more than I can tell! - Belle http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/3949/beautyandthebeast21024uh9.jpg |

Liquid is also not Snake, but he still managed to look quite impressive
against Luigi, who is clearly much stronger than Kirby is. If Raiden's
boost is enough to make him equal to Liquid, then yes he's no Big Boss,
but he's still possibly a contender against Kirby. This is all speculation. The majority of you were wrong about today's match; I am in the group that was not. --- :> |

vcharon (#110) Did Liquid really impress that much over last year? He beat Alucard, whos a perennial midcarder, and I'd expect Alucard to put up similiar numbers to Luigi this year. --- Master Chief > Sonic ...... Believe http://card.mygamercard.net/geothermal/Albion+Hero.png |

anyway, Raiden's threepack vs. Kirby's threepack gogogo I want to
see what people think before they get a chance to spin it in 9 hours I'll go with MC > BB, Kain > Jinjo, and SFF-free Lucas > Layton > SFF'd Lucas...so, yeah, Raiden's four-way looks like a tougher one to me. He had Halo 2 in 2005. It makes sense that he would do better. But then he really dropped off in 2006. Halo 2 came in 2004 -- it had eight-ten months between its release and MC's next match. Riku got 45% on Yoshi, and beat Ryu Hayabusa comfortably last year. That's about where I'd stick Pikachu on the strength list. Come again? No no. Hayabusa beat Riku and Roxas combined in the first round, then lost to Riku in the second round by .52%...as in just over half of a percent. --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |

Amazing show from Big Boss here. He wrecked this match and it doesn't
look like he's dropped off a whole lot over the course of the morning
and day. For as much as the pic helps him here, I have to between that
between this and Liquid, there's a definite Metal Gear boost, as
opposed to some wild drop from Luigi and Kirby. This same pic last year
was worth 25% against Mario/Magus/Phoenix Wright -- it's worth nearly
double that against Kirby/Jinjo/Lucas this year. The only thing that
makes me scratch my head is Snake. Gotta see Raiden tomorrow. I had high expectations for him before seeing Boss today, so we'll see how close he can get to the Chief. --- kept you waiting, huh |

I thought about Ocelot, but he's also a question mark because lol which
one is which. Raiden is the guy who's gone from being a dweeb to being

mattered. --- xyzzy "Man...tranny gets bored, the rest of us suffer." -satai |

apart. If anyone's thinking Ramza's going to hinder Riku in round 2 as

*salutes Big Boss* I'm not even entirely sure Raiden being there next round will stop Big Boss. It'll be interesting to see. Though I was talking to someone last night (maybe yoblazer?), and he was saying Big Boss would benefit here from being the guy who the "No thanks, Nintendo" guys will vote for here. In the next round, the scenario is flipflopped for Kirby. Kirby and MC/Big Boss/Raiden. Who's going to suck up the "No thanks, mature games!" vote! Seriously though, Kirby's going to be a unique character in that match. And I'd say Liquid's got a great shot, not only at getting past Luigi and Bowser in round 2, but getting past X in round 3 at this point. --- Squall Leonhart's Path to the CBVII Championship Round 1: 1st place, 57296 votes, 45.06% |
