Wow I don't get why this was such an upset: Check out the guru: http://www.thengamer.com/guru/ Only THREE peopel picked this upset? I bet a lot of people, whether guru or not, made up their minds about the bracket for the most part early on, before the user-submitted picture announcement was made. While with this performance, I have to wonder if Big Boss wouldn't have won anyway even with his ugly pictures, if you didn't think of this match when that announcement was made and it slipped your mind when you reviewed the bracket (since it doesn't really matter much to most characters), taking Kirby here seems logical. That's why I have Kirby winning here, at least. Definitely goofed on predicting how strong he (and Liquid) would be, but I maintain that picking Kirby is perfectly fine if you don't anticipate Naked Snake Big Boss --- A season of our stolen youth shall teach old hearts to break ~Primordial-The Coffin Ships |

For whatever reason, I thought of this largely as a no-brainer until
the bracket closed in favor of Kirby > BB. Haha, look how wrong my
first impressions were here! So, let's ask this: if we have BB/Kirby/MC/Raiden next round as expected, we can generally assume MC will have a standard pic of him. Let's say Raiden gets his ninja-look and BB gets his salute-pose from MGS3...does Kirby stand no chance even with this pic? http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/3664/r213thmatchly8.png come on out-snake him --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |

I can't see Big Boss advancing next round. Raiden sucks, but not nearly
on the level of how much Lucas sucks. He'll be sapping Big Boss pretty

So, let's ask this: if we have BB/Kirby/MC/Raiden next round as
expected, we can generally assume MC will have a standard pic of him.
Let's say Raiden gets his ninja-look and BB gets his salute-pose from

If Big Boss manages to evade Raiden LFF and last to the division
finals, and if Leon can beat out Riku to get there and LFF Dante, we
may very well see Master Chief>Big Boss in the division finals. While I think the Boss is actually now probable to advance despite Raiden, I think most agree Riku's the favorite over Leon now though. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

The Salute picture isn't that good for
Big Boss. It's not instantly recognizable as "Oh hey, Solid Snake!" yet
at the same time he's not getting owned by melting face either. The
Salute pic is just about the fairest one I can think of for Big Boss,
and if that mock pic turns out to be the actual one, I'd expect Kirby
to move on without too much concern. --- mmm test icicles |

Kirby is completely safe in Round 2, sadly. Raiden will burden BB with
a significant fanbase split, and Kirby is the lone Nintendo/cutesy
option, anyway. It's Round 3 where I'm sensing trouble, especially if

I disagree, KP. I'd probably stand and salute, myself, for a solid
minute if BB got the salute pic, but it's just not as appealing as

While I think the Boss is actually now probable to advance despite
Raiden, I think most agree Riku's the favorite over Leon now though. It blew my mind that Leon was the guru favourite to go to round 3 with Dante. This is all one big moot point. Kirby will
be safe for the next round. Just look at his competition. Fanbase
splits don't affect Nintendo characters exclusively, guys. Kirby will
be aided by one in the next round, and he'll have the added benefit of

So the division finals are the sprite round? See guys, this is why 4way is better. We wouldn't be able to consider all these varibles and stuff in 1v1. 4-way absolutely sucks compared to 1 on 1. 1 on 1 is tons more exciting and absorbing, and we've got boatloads of massively exciting potential matches there. If Boss holds this lead, Raiden isn't going to be enough of a hindrance
for Kirby to win assuming Boss gets another pic saying "HEY I'M SNAKE

In Kirby's defense, what few votes Lucas has would probably mostly go
to Kirby here... and Jinjo uh... people say Banjo pretty much qualifies
as a Nintendo character, so I guess JInjo would too... so we can throw
Kirby most of those votes... yeah... and then Kirby looks better....

Squall - 45% Yoshi - 32% Big Boss - 45% Kirby - 35% BB is still rising quickly and should finish with around 46/47%. Also, Kirby is leeching away Lucas' votes, which Yoshi was unable to do. Pretty much, Squall's blowout on Yoshi is the exact same as BB's blowout on Kirby. Do you really think BB = Squall? Squall would massacre him. Kirby is absolutely pathetic right now.
