I've got Cloud > Miles... ...I don't want to defend the pick, but I'll explain why I originally took it: I liked seeing Miles get 9.13% on Link and Phoenix get 10.71% on Mario than seeing Midna get 12.57% on Samus. If Cloud's taking well over 50+% (if not 60+%) of the votes and the lawyer-crew could get 9%/11% on Link/Mario, then taking Miles didn't feel so bad to get 14%-17% here. Since then, I've thought about how much better Midna's other opponents were than Miles's (Scorpion beats Bidoof, Frog kills Agent J). It's worth noting that Link/Mario were more likely to SFF Miles/Phoenix than Samus to SFF Midna, but...hmmm. I ultimately feel like it was a mistake to bet on a PW-character over a LoZ-character. Axel Steel's in the mix too, but I don't really fear him. He's got a chance, but he doesn't seem like somebody people ever got behind before this match was announced nor somebody people are big fans of. If that's the case, apathy is gonna kill him against Cloud. --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |

This is my projection: Cloud - 60% Axel - 15% Midna - 15% Edgeworth - 10% Axel and Midnas 15% can go either way to who is second. Its a toss up imo. Edgeworth's kinda interesting since he's probably gonna manage 10% no
matter what. given that all he needs is 15 and Phoenix looked good, you
can make a hopeful argument for him. it's a serious longshot, but

Plus, I expect the majority of brackets to have Axel second due to most
brackets going towards the more casual known characters in the past, so

Eh, I won't argue for it and I'm probably voting for Cloud tomorrow
anyway. I do remain hopeful for it because it's not unreasonable...but
it's a long-shot as you said, and if Axel is better than we expected

How much difference do you think it will make whether Miles Edgeworth is called "Miles" or "Edgeworth" in the picture? I hope he gets Edgeworth --- Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die. |

actually, Edgeworth would need some strength out of Axel to advance...
he's not gonna get 20% of the vote. he needs there to be a pretty

I think he might be hurt a bit if he is called "Miles." that name have
no recognizability whatsoever, everyone that have played his games know
him as "Edgeworth" he was a victim of this last year too, not saying he would have beat Bidoof had he been listed as "Edgeworth" but he would probably have performed better. I imagine other characters that goes by their last name would suffer as well, e.g. if Steiner (from FFIX) ever made it in he would suffer if he was called "Adelbert" even if that is his first name. The same obviously goes if characters that usually go by their first name was called by their last name, a lot fever people would vote for "Strife" than for "Cloud" or "Aran" instead of "Samus" --- Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die. |

Oh man, I'm loving seeing a topic filled with Squall talk! But as an
avid Squall fan, I'm gonna go ahead and tell you: I don't see any way
Squall advances in round 3 with Cloud there, regardless of who's in the
match with him. And I take Squall to advance if he's got anything
resembling a chance. He doesn't. Cloud and Squall are as tied at the
hip as two characters from different games can be. Squall will always
have to deal with Cloud comparisons, and such like things. As I said before, if Yoshi's there, I can't see Squall edging him out. Squall and Auron are on relatively equal ground, and I'd say Yoshi and Ryu are as well. Cloud is going to SFF him harder than he did Auron, and so Yoshi will advance. If Mewtwo's there, that means Sora is, too, which gives Squall another person to deal with LFF from. If Squall could be there against Mewtwo without Sora somehow (like if miraculously Fox gets second next round...), I'd give him a great shot. I just can't see it. And gimme Squall > Vincent every time! Fanboyism for the win! By the way, I thought about taking Edgeworth for second tomorrow, much for the same reasons that RPGuy stated. Well at least there's one thing Axel can't complain about - the
