Match XXII: CATS vs. Nathan Drake vs. Squall Leonhart vs. Yoshi Information: Name: CATS Game/Series From: Zero Wing 2007 Results: 4th in round 1 The original joke character tries to compete with the new joke characters. Many people thought CATS had a chance at advancing last year due to Nintendo LFF yet even with that factor he couldn’t even beat one of the characters. CATS however does have a chance to come in third in this match. Name: Nathan Drake Game/Series From: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune 2007 Results: Did not enter At first I thought he was Nathan Hale from last year who did nothing, but fail in his sole match. Apparently this is the other Nathan also exclusively belonging to the PS3. I’m not expecting much more from this Nathan, but I would always rather have new fodder than old fodder. Name: Squall Leonhart Game/Series From: Final Fantasy VIII 2007 Results: 1st in round 1, 1st in round 2, 2nd in round 3, 4th in round 4 Squall had a great run last almost beating Sonic despite Sora being in the same poll in round 3 and coming close again in round 4. This year he’s looking forward to have a tag team match against two other Nintendo characters with Sora and Cloud as his partners. Name: Yoshi Game/Series From: Mario series 2007 Results: 1st in round 1, 2nd in round 2, 3rd in round 3 On the other side of the bracket we had Yoshi kicking ass and taking names. Yoshi is expected to do well this year also looking forward to a tag team match in rounds 2 and 3. The question is how does Yoshi stack to Squall without any interference? Analysis: The second match of the division is very much like the first match, boring though the reason people are watching the results is for the match next round. Both Squall and Yoshi are the favourites to win their second round match though an upset or even a switch of placing between the characters is still possible, it all depends on their performance in this match. Squall shouldn’t have much of a problem coming in first in this match, two of his opponents are fodder and the only time Yoshi did better than Squall in a contest was in 2006 when Yoshi was paired up against Solid Sprite in round 3. What Squall needs to do in this match is get a big enough lead on Yoshi in order to avoid an upset when Sora and Fox are added to the poll next round and LFF is everywhere. Yoshi, like Squall will have no problem placing and will likely take second. As I’ve said before Yoshi has only done better than Squall in one contest and the results are questionable. However that doesn’t mean that Yoshi would get destroyed by Squall and if Yoshi wants to come in first next round or avoid an early exit he needs to get as close as he can to Squall. |

| CATS was the joke character of the bracket before
jokes were allowed. The fad has long died and various joke characters
have shown their strength and CATS has yet to even defeat someone in a
match. This match will be CATS’ best chance at defeating someone even
if he fails to place. Last year he couldn’t even defeat one Nintendo
character in a match containing two of them. His joke is growing to be
too stale and voters are forgetting him, this could be the last chance
he has at winning. Nathan like the other Nathan is from an exclusive, popular Playstation 3 game and we all saw how well that went. Before giving Nathan the automatic last place consider that the site has changed. Even though the Playstation 3 still has the smallest ownership among the current gen consoles it did have the biggest increase of ownership (due to the fact that no one owned it). I can see this Nathan performing better than the Nathan from last year, though that isn’t saying much. He’s still getting last though he’ll be giving CATS a run for his money. Squall and Yoshi will place though I don’t think it will be an interesting match, maybe after the board vote is settled CATS will have an interesting match against Nathan. Round 1 Division 6- Match 2 CATS Oh CATS, noone understands you but us Nathan Drake Hmm, the second super-turbo-fodder to be named Nathan in 2 years? Squall Yay Squall, prove to us that you're the strongest non-Noble Niner Yoshi Yoshi back to kick more ass Analysis: More boredom, all this match serves is a chance to gauge where Yoshi REALLY is since every match he's been in is useless from a stats perspective, or rife with anomalies. Today is key to how the rest of the division will end up. Yoshi need to really impress to have a shot at round 2, and Squall needs to REALLY impress to have a shot at round 3. Other than that, we may just may see CATS beat someone. tranny explained it pretty well in another topic. People played Brawl and it was fun. Since then, nothing has come out for the Wii (seriously, not one good game). Less Nintendo fans on this site = other characters performing better. --- Good Times, Great Memories |

It's not brawl that's "deboosting" it's nintendo in general. Basically
a bunch of "teh h4rdcore" gamers taking out their anger at nintendo
daring to rise out of the basement of the console sales by making some
casual games (Wii Fit being the one that draws the most ire) in the
only way they know how, voting for h4rdcore jrpg sony characters like
