If Ryu win, it will be just a slight majority..

But, it hard to tell in 2nd round...
Maybe he will spring an upset??

Ryu is putting up 20 gains like every time, and will just get better at ASV.

Yeah, in 2k5 Hayabusa was able to take the ASV over Zero (though not decisively). Since then, Zero hasn't kept any more relevant while Hayabusa is refreshed with NG2 on the 360. It should be pretty favorable for Hayabusa in comparison to three years ago when he still had the advantage.

Who you got?

Oh man, that's a tough one...I think I'd go with...Bowser > Hayabusa? I really don't know. I think that Bowser should win this, despite how badly he's performed in the past.

And yeah, Zero's done. Good job, Hayabusa. I'm not sold on Pit and DeDeDe hindering Zero here either. Not likin' Vivi's chances of beating either one next round. He got owned by Leon Kennedy twice last year.

Speaking of Leon, do you take him over Zero or Hayabusa here?

I would've said that until DK's performance the other day, which suddenly makes Kratos's performance last year less impressive. He didn't beat Riku that decisively last year either.

I expect Kratos to be even stronger this year due to having Chains of Olympus, the best selling PSP game of all time, and highest rated PSP game as well.

I knew it sold well, but I didn't realize it was received well. Nice; between that and the much-increased PS3-ownership (even if no GoW-games are on it yet), Kratos should be set to look sharp this year.

Watch out, SFF'd Tifa.

I think its a given that it'll be Sephy > Kratos in round 2, because even without SFF, Tifa should do only like 55-45 on Kratos, but with Sephy there, no contest.

HaRRicH | Posted 10/6/2008 10:35:33 AM | message detail
Tifa would only 55-45 Kratos? I have a hard time believing that...I would think she'd get more.

Then again, I also have little fear that Kratos beats Tifa like this. The only way I see Tifa beating Kratos is if Sephiroth can affect Kratos through the virtue of sharing many fans through their big games. It seemed to work for Sephiroth against Liquid, for example, with that FF7/MGS theory...

...but there's no way I'm relying on that.

Tifa (2005c) VS Kratos (2007c)

Tifa has a strength of 33.57.
Kratos has a strength of 27.44.

Tifa wins with 59.13% of the vote!
A win of 22,057 with 120,794 total votes cast.

Well I was kinda close. But I think Seph/Tifa will look like the Link/Zelda SFF beat down we had in round 2 last year.

I'd be shocked if Tifa folded like that. Link vs. Zelda/Ganondorf is a pretty special contest relationship. Those two are pretty damn strong, and Link SFFs them like Mario would SFF Birdo.

Ryu Hayabusa
Zero
Kratos
Bowser

Bowser > Kratos without too much effort or concern. I think Kratos is a clear step ahead of Ryu/Zero, and with three badasses + Bowser, it doesn't matter what deficiencies Bowser has had in the past in 4-ways to me. Really he's only looked bad thanks to terrible fanbase overlap, I think it's much exaggerated how bad he is in this format. This is coming from someone who took Ryu > Bowser last year, and Luigi > Bowser this.

For what it's worth, assuming Hayabusa = Riku last year, Kratos beat Riku by ~3% with Solid/L in the match. NG2 is going to be a bigger release for Hayabusa than GoW:CoO too, so -- while I'd probably faovir Kratos there -- I wouldn't think Hayabusa is a clear step below Kratos in this format anymore.

I also agree about the Bowser myth...for the most part. I do think one-on-one favors him a bit more, but ultimately he was brought down by big LFF in the first round and was against big fan-favorites in his second round match (even Shadow in the Sonic series, though that's the only stretch)...Bowser doesn't have that same kind of favoritism to get many people to say he's somebody's favorite from the Mario series.

I think Bowser will show Luigi he's still solid enough with this format though; they'll be close, but I'm still favoring Bowser. Liquid may mess things up though...but still, Bowser should look better than last year.

wasn't this match over at 7 AM this morning? oh well. for as much as I love my bracket (and I do), I've never wanted to see an upset so much that wasn't in my favor. I've never even played Gaiden, and I still was elated to see Ryu doing so well last night. This probably has something to do with Turtle ingraining a subconscious hatred of Zero in my brain.
