Solidus and Sorrow are awesoms.

Also, Pit/Ryu cut.

I still don't understand why people are blaming this on Zero. He's got 35% here and he will increase as DDD and Pit drop off overnight. Compare this fourpack to last year's and it's definitely tougher. I'd take all 3 of these guys over Jak/HK/Lloyd, and Ryu is a high midcarder as well. This is NG2 boost, and I think a great comparison will be next round as it has characters of very similar strength to Snake/Ryu/Riku/Nightmare
ZFS | Posted 10/5/2008 9:36:37 PM | message detail
Somebody is going to submit a Snake sprite (seriously, did you see that Kefka picture?), and Bacon's going to use it because it fits the round's theme.

Comparing Snake's MGS1 / MG1 pic to Kefka is no good. Kefka's in a no win situation with his pics -- no, lettuce really isn't that better of an alternative -- and the one that was chosen was probably the only other that fit there.

It's a different situatiion with Snake. An MGS1 pic very much fits the "theme" (sans the whole "first appearance" thing, but I'm sure he's not going to adhere to them that strictly) and looks better to boot. Not saying it'll happen, but it's hard for me to see Snake getting it with all the other, better options he'll have to choose from

red sox 777 (#398)
Zero won't need all that big a lead before the ASV. Looking at Link/Crono/Vincent/Zero last year:

Gain from 3 PM to end:

Link: +0.68%
Crono: -1.16%
Vincent: -0.11%
Zero: +0.62%

Zero's ASV looks quite impressive when you consider that he gained nearly as much at 12% as Link gained at 45%.

Ryu is best during day, and none of those characters are what I'd call day monsters.

Zero's day vote is decent. he's not like Mega Man.

Ryu's is better though.

Zero has an alright day vote but you do not bet against the Xbox day vote. He needs a substantial lead.

Sorry, but even Link's ASV doesn't compare with that of the X-Box. He will need that cushion... oh yes... and he will get no such thing! Hayabusa takes charge when the NPH ends...!

Solidus would only be over the line for having "Snake" in his name. And even then it might not be enough. We need Grey Fox up in this contest anyhow.

(or screw it let's go all out and get Liquid Ocelot in who's up for some split-face photoshoppin')

And see, that's what I meant on not trusting erratic updates.

then again, Riku beat Hayabusa pretty well in the day. that's no fault of his but I wouldn't say his day vote is godly or anything.

Kingdom Hearts is like the king of day vote though. Not really fair to compare it to KH.

That's because Riku is Kingdom Hearts, the series with the very definition of childish fanbase.
ZFS | Posted 10/5/2008 9:39:46 PM | message detail
Hayabusa should have the advantage with the day vote, I would think. Probably rather decisively, but Zero does seem to hold up better than Mega Man does.

We need Grey Fox up in this contest anyhow.

let's do this

Just look at Axel/Mega Man to get somewhat of a comparison for trends here. Zero is very balanced with his voting trends, he's just always stuck against day vote kings like Sonic, Mario and Luigi.

...why aren't we looking directly at Hayabusa/Zero 2k5 to see who wins the day-vote?

http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/images/poll_graph.php?matchnum=2068&type=2&seconds=60&max=0

Looks like Hayabusa barely won out three years ago. I don't think Zero's done much in the past three years to keep fresh with the ASV and Hayabusa is hot again with NG2 now, so I would expect him to win more now...how much, I I dunno, but I think Hayabusa can come back at least 500 votes if necessary, perhaps more.
