Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. They have everything. --- Bracket: http://thengamer.com/guru/bracket.php?id=10 |

Also, reasons why I think Sandbag won't be having a "Cinderella run" ala' L-Block: 1. Ridiculously stiff competition. Just in his first match alone he's got Magus. Normally I wouldn't have said that...but Chrono Trigger is 2/2 this year so far. Both Crono and Frog looked great this year. I'm a little anxious to say it's all because of Chrono Trigger DS on the horizon, but that must be helping them at least a little. Oh, silly me. I forgot to mention Sonic the Hedgehog. Now even though Sonic characters are 0/3 this year so far, I'm counting on the chill-dog loving Hedgehog to kick ass and take names, even though he doesn't fair too well in this format. He's still a Noble Niner. And had L-Block been up against this kind of competition last year, he wouldn't have made it anywhere near this Division. Just assuming he gets past Magus with Sonic, he's also got Auron in the next round. And Sephiroth in the same Division. Two NNers is one hell of a mountain to scale, and I just don't think the Bag can pull it off. Bad placement unfortunately. At least it's gonna tear up Commander Shepard :P Hmm....guess I don't have any more reasons aside from that --- 51/68 points - The Great GameFAQs Character Battle VII NP: Mega Man > Nero |

Banjo-Kazooie is pretty much the best platformer on the N64. I enjoyed
it more than SM64 I thought in the end. It's pretty sad to see the
direction the series is going in, unless N&B massively surprises. --- "Eet's game time..." |

Ok, it's time for my next guarantee! Right now I'm 2-0 since I'm not
counting the Arthas > Ike pick (I was ultimately right, but my
reasoning was completely wrong). Sandbag will not place in his first round match. Reason: Brawl characters have sucked big time in these things, and he is a Brawl character. People think because he's a joke, he'll advance. Those people are wrong. L-Block is self explanatory. Cube is a huge internet hit, and had an easy first round. Sandbag is just an item from Brawl, and the only fans of it are people who believe in JokeFEAR (tm), or believe that Brawl is going to kick major ass here, which has already proved to be wrong. --- Good Times, Great Memories |

Picked it back up in the afternoon and second night after a bad morning and early day vote. Tidus's best time was the early morning, and DK's was the early afternoon. DK and Tails really didn't shift too much, and once the match hit noon, Tidus and Cube basically stalled all day. Also, I can't decide if Nero is doing really well or Mega Man is doing
really badly. Nero's got a quarter of the votes here, getting doubled
by Mega Man (which isn't too bad, really), and he's got about as much
as Banjo and Olimar combined. At the same time, Mega Man is struggling to get 50% here, and he got 50.49% last year against KOS-MOS, Diablo, and Arthas. I have a hard time believing Nero, Banjo, and Olimar is a tougher trio.
