SFF matches have lower votals. Also, matches with a ton of utter crap
have lower votals, which is why Crono and Samus did so poorly. Anyway, you don't need high votal drawing power to be strong. But all things considered it's definitely something you want more than something you don't. --- Master Chief's quest to defeat Cloud: Round 1 - Raiden/Kain/Other Dude. Target: 48%. GAME FUEL. Lol I can't believe we are still acting surprised when a joke character finds a 150+ vote post out of absolutely thin air. I mean look at the graph look at the votals, there is really no point obviously a joke character is going to win any close match by illegitimate terms. Why be surprised anymore I mean if people are willing to vote for a joke to ruin a contest why would they not be willing to stuff for a joke to ruin a good match? I say congrats to Tidus you put up a better fight then most would be able to under less then ideal circumstances he deserves his moment in the spotlight... |

You know, it's strange that the Cube started
picking up the pace and gaining again right around ASV time, as if it
were a weekday. And now that it's gone back down to normal levels, Tidus STILL can't do anything! --- Squall Leonhart's Path to the CBVII Championship Round 1: CATS, Nathan Drake, Yoshi |
hellfire104 | Posted 10/4/2008 12:25:35 PM | message detail |
That's fine, but SFF didn't cause all those vote counts to be lower. Link's match didn't have SFF. I only posted that because I was tired of Hogger being an ***. Altair's has the highest vote count in the contest so far. So when you say Altair = 61,000 > Zach = 60,000. I say its because of total vote difference. Simple as that. --- Contest Point Total: 50 Rank: 98%tile, Tied for 890 This Pick: Tidus > Donkey Kong |

What do you mean illegitimate? Cube is displaying normal trends... he's
not getting random spikes to gain a ton of votes out of nowhere. He
built a solid lead on Tidus, Tidus then started erasing that lead down
to the 400's, where once again the tides started turning, and Cube put
on a 3 hour long stall fest, and now he's rebuilding his lead again. It's a trend, not vote stuffing. --- LONG LIVE GAMEZACKS |
KamikazePotato | Posted 10/4/2008 12:27:24 PM | message detail |
Cube increased his lead by 100 votes in one update. Not saying it's stuffing, but how is that a normal trend? --- Bracket: http://thengamer.com/guru/bracket.php?id=10 |

he's not getting random spikes to gain a ton of votes out of nowhere Cube got a 280 vote update out of nowhere, right after a 250 vote update. It hasn't gotten updates that large since the first 90 minutes of the match. Not that it matters. It went back to normal after that, and it's still gaining. --- Squall Leonhart's Path to the CBVII Championship Round 1: CATS, Nathan Drake, Yoshi |
Lopen | Posted 10/4/2008 12:28:10 PM | message detail |
Look at the updates fool. Spiking by 50 votes and then 100 votes while
everyone else remains constant and then falling back down to normal is
no trend. --- Master Chief's quest to defeat Cloud: Round 1 - Raiden/Kain/Other Dude. Target: 48%. GAME FUEL. Believe |

...and he gained 70 the update before, it didn't exactly just happen
out of nowhere. Clearly this time period is benefitting Cube over Tidus
for some reason. It's not "Tidus cut, tidus cut, tidus cut, L SPIKE!,
tidus cut, tidus cut." That's what stuffing looks like. Right now he's
just consistently padding his lead, with 3-4 updates that were better
than the rest all clustered together. --- LONG LIVE GAMEZACKS |

http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/images/poll_graph.php?matchnum=3260&type=1&seconds=60&max=0 Yeah, that was "normal". If Tidus loses by like 100 votes, and SB doesn't take any votes off for that update, that's robbery. I've already said that it doesn't really matter if the Cube was
stuffing or not, and I even gave it the benefit of the doubt of
potential rallying. I'm just saying Vercetti/Kefka was one long stallfest, with Kefka making an occasional spike to keep Vercetti at bay. This is just an isolated form of it. A stuffer may only need one or two updates of stuffing to push things out of reach, and that may be enough here. --- Squall Leonhart's Path to the CBVII Championship Round 1: CATS, Nathan Drake, Yoshi |

About Zack/Altair - assuming they each get there, I've got my money on
Zack. Since their first round matches were brought up, here's my take:
Zack got a higher percentage in the poll against Wario despite Cecil
than Altair did in the poll against Lucario with Isaac. Wario did get
more percentage in his poll than Lucario, but I also consider Wario
stronger at this point. Guybrush and Jade are non-factors. He's still strong, although this should at least put to rest any Marth>Ike comments (coughHarrichcough). I doubt I'll defend that anymore after seeing how much Ike came back and seeing DK not impress today. That said, if Marth gets first next round despite Lucario, I may flip-flop on the issue some more I don't know if I buy this as a legit factor. People used it to say Ness would win his fourpack last year (and other similar situations), and it didn't work.. Yeah, it failed for me last year. That said, I still stand by that Ness did a little better than he should have, but because the rest were PS1-stars WHILE Ness was the only Nintendo guy. After last year and seeing what Zidane and Liquid did earlier this round, I'd like to see Ness/Zidane. Question: Would you guys be excited and/or willing to have the stats topic play some role in running the contest if it meant eliminating the prizes? Yes for myself, though I'd hate to cost other people the chance at prizes. Personally, though I've heard all sorts of recommendations, I'd nominate TRE for the job. He's obviously paying attention to the topics, has always known what he's talking about -- even when wrong, believe it or not -- and is already a moderator. If TRE was cool with it, I think that'd be the best super-robot-man SB could pick. --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |
