Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. Falcon destroyed Crono during the day, but couldn't do anything with
fellow Nintendo characters around last year. I'd say Falcon > Kratos
> Diddy > Alucard is probably a good bet for the day vote. I'm
still worried about Alucard here...he should
be able to get a 1500-2000 vote lead by morning, in which case he
should be safe, but I have a lot of trouble trusting him. Maybe I've
been burned by Crono/Frog/Kefka too much, and if anybody can compare to
their day votes... --- Mustache...and green... |

It's weird, this is actually the strength I would've expected for
Falcon before his first appearance, based on F-Zero and Smash. But he
flopped relative to my expectations, and *now* he's meeting them? Very strange. Diddy bombing is not surprising to me, because Donkey Kong ain't all that, and I figured Diddy wouldn't be near him. But Falcon's performance is a surprise, since he's a contest vet, and he's never done squat before. But I guess hochi's theory of double SFF/LFF makes a lot of sense. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

Sandbag has little time to build a fanbase, it won't have as large an
appeal since it's more oriented to Smash fans, Sonic, Magus, and Auron
are different beasts from what 2007 L-Block and the Cube had to face in
the first two rounds... Sandbag has it rough. I have L-Block winning and Cube advancing two matches, and I still have Sandbag out Round 1. creativename | Posted 10/1/2008 10:40:17 PM | message detail |
I'm curious to hear why you think that Sandbag is no L-Block, or even remotely close. L-Block is universally known. Sandbag's big strength is that he's in one of the strongest series on the site, and despite being only in mini-games he's actually probably stronger than some playable characters from that series. However I don't think he's going to have real strength. Plus there's a slim chance he could get SFFed by Sonic. The main reason to believe in Sandbag IMO is that his competition is Magus...and we all know about Magus and his...well...Magus-ish-ness. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

mind Diddy bombing because it actually sorta confirms a suspicion I
have, but Falcon sure got strong quick. However, there is a trend I have noticed. Wario, Lucario, Diddy have fallen flat.
