Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. They have everything. post away |

I have no idea what is going on. L-Block seems weaker, Ryu seems A LOT weaker, especially sucking it up with the day vote. Met-Knight isn't getting the SNF if it even exists, and is sucking pretty badly. Is the Dog detracting from L-Block? Is Ryu the kind of guy with a static 30% when not against the best of the best? Is L-Block? This match... Argh. So, what does MK's performance say about tomorrow? Diddy's surely stronger, but Captain Falcon... |
Zylo the wolf | Posted 10/1/2008 2:26:47 PM | message detail |
So people who says that Ryu will make another push with the second night vote, when do you expect that to start? It has been hours since Ryu won an update, and as long as L-Block gains more than 2 votes each update he's safe. --- Ngamer64: Zylo, you're making less sense every day. WarThaNemesis2 | Posted 10/1/2008 2:27:28 PM | message detail |
The real wildcard in all this is The Dog. We expected him to completely
suck. Like, sub-10% suck. Instead, he's showing that he's got his
following too. If The Dog is holding back L at all, L getting first next round is a lock. --- "Dreaming of one day flying, it practices by leaping off cliffs every day." ~Bagon's Pokedex entry |

ASV begins to taper off past 7, and really dissipates after 8. However,
even then it usually resembles the day vote more than the night vote.

I wouldn't count on the second night vote saving Ryu. I don't remember

time was changed to midnight....Snake and Phoenix Wright used it to

Crono got 20% against Link, Vincent, Zero Ryu got 20% against Cloud, Auron, Marcus Fenix Advantage Crono but not by a huge margin. I don't think Cloud hurts Auron that much. Ryu vs Crono is going to be a match to watch with L pushing the votals down. wha? Link >> Cloud Vincent >> Auron Zero >> Marcus fenix Cloud and Auron SFF Crono potentially being hurt by Link Crono's match was much, much harder. I doubt Ryu has any chances against Crono. his only hope rests in L-Block crumbling this year (not being constant anymore) |

Yeah, while I think Crono's competition was way stronger than Ryu's, I
have a bad feeling that L-Block is going to hurt Crono more....no real
reason, but Crono has let me down too many times. It would culminate 3
years of failure too well to lose by crumbling with the day vote
against Ryu and a tetris block responsible for the biggest percentage
losses ever. --- Evvivan: Character Battle VII --- Score: 46/52 --- T-18 (96 way) Bracket: Ryu > L-Block --- Vote: Meta-Knight |
