Yeah, so far this is smoking the W2W-record. I forgot if Frog/Liquid or MGS/FFT have it, but I believe one of those matches currently hold it by having no more than a ~475 vote gap between their max leads.

Of course, this can change easily with a new part of the day's trends, but right now Gordon/Scorp is killing it.

Did anyone ever put together a top 5 W2W matches list? I imagine a top 10 would be pretty redundant, since matches that are close throughout the day are so rare. I guess even #5 has around 8-900 as the peak difference.

You know Balthier isn't too far off here than he was against Ada. Was FFXII underrated or does anyone think Ada could compete with Scorpion and Gordon?

XD at this. This is just an absolutely epic tussle, if it stays like this until even like 5 or 6 GameFAQs time this is one of the better matches.

Because that would make this the most epic(ally vote stuffed match) ever

Well, if the morning vote is any indication, Scorp has got this once the ASV kicks up. That is, if he stalls Gordon all the way until then.

Still, I don't feel completely safe calling this one for Scorps yet, especially with that second night vote if this is still close by then.

If the difference between the two hasn't broke 200, there have been no differing trends yet. A 50 vote cut in this instance isn't indicative of anything more than the fact that not everyone who goes to this site is a robot with a voting schedule, as the great hochi would have you believe.

Hmmm, wire to wire match. I'm surprised the stats topic isn't overrun with comments update to update! I usually stay away during those. Anyways, this is really interesting. Either this is an Orange Box boost, or Gordon really has a hardcore fanbase. Next round is going to be interesting too, as Gordon was clearly weaker than Sub-Zero, so it will be interesting to see how Gordon holds up to Scorpion next round with Vincent in there. Having Vincent in there is comparable to Sonic being in there, so a lot of things will measure up. I wonder if Duke affected Gordon in any way... I know they are both PC characters, but Duke seems like a previous generation (plus DN64 was pretty big).

You know, I never thought about Duke Nukem 64 being a part of his strength actually. Has Duke been summoning some Nintendo strength all this time?

Also, I wonder how the trends will go for the rest of the day. Scorpion was pretty consistent last year, while Gordon fell through the day. However, maybe Gordon has some day boost from Orange Box being on the 360? Then again, it looks like Big Daddy is due to go up in the day as well. THE PLOT THICKENS!

I think the update to update stuff goes crazy when there's huge vote swings going on. For some reason it's more exciting when two characters have completely different voting trends. Anyway, who do you guys think a final hour push benefits if this goes down to the wire? I'm feeling Gordon, but who knows.

Definitely. All the best matches have epic swings, more or less. The midnight start helps, since it shortens the second nightvote considerably but there's just enough there to provide another twist in the tale, like with Frog/Axel or Peach/Jill (I know Jill didn't win, but she made it pretty close when it looked like Peach would end up winning comfortably with an hour or so to go IIRC).

I'm guessing most people are at work or school and can't comment update to update.

Trust me, if it's still this tight later on, we'll go through another topic for this match alone easy.

And even though both Duke and Gordon impressed (well I don't think Gordon is impressing as much as Scorpion is failing), I wouldn't say that their fourpack was underrated last year. Gordon can be explained and Duke...uhh

I'll wait and see how Ike holds up.

Scorpion (2007c) VS Gordon Freeman (2007c)

Scorpion has a strength of 26.76.
Gordon Freeman has a strength of 19.89.

Scorpion wins with 62.84% of the vote!
A win of 36,476 with 142,080 total votes cast.

Another fantastic lol xstats moment... I have to say today was the first time this contest I voted against my bracket knowing it was a close match. Gordon Freeman winning this would be far to awesome to stick with a bracket vote! So what is everyone still thinking about next round. Its hard for me to see Gordon not getting second not round if this stays as close as it has been all day. I mean I can't envision anything holding Scorpion back whereas to me Big Daddy could be even if only by a little SFF'ing Gordon. Either way it is looking like next round could be a dream match for 2nd place as anyone has a shot. I think right now though I would give the edge to Gordon going into that match.
