of course. underrate Gordon again! That will solve all your problems. You know, I know how it sounds so bad from someone who has doubted Gordon every step of the way but this portion of the vote against Balthier is just really not impressive at all. They're still just barely outdoing Ada Wong. Ain't no one gonna tell me Ada Wong is more than high fodder with a straight face. Balthier is just doing way too well here proportionally. If this was legit all Gordon I'd expect them both to be at 32% or so and Balthier/Big Daddy taking the damage. --- Master Chief's quest to defeat Cloud: Round 1 - Raiden/Kain/Other Dude. Target: 48%. Either way, Scorpion seems destined for last place next round. Most of
us would wager that Gordon would be winning this thing outright if we
remove Big Daddy. He'll be removed next round, and Vincent should hurt Scorpion more. I'd say Falco is looking very good right now, but there's no way I'd write off Gordon after this. --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

nooooo I just realized that my bracket which is 28th on the leaderboard has Scorpion>Balthier today. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh --- Go Ducks Go! http://img.imgcake.com/fallout_3.jpg |
Lopen | Posted 9/29/2008 10:13:46 AM | message detail |
I think Gordon has Scorp all but locked up next round but it certainly
isn't because I'm certain Big Daddy is hurting Gordon more. It could
seriously be hurting Scorpion more, no joke. Bioshock and MK seem more
"casual" whereas Half Life is more of a "hardcore" game. --- Master Chief's quest to defeat Cloud: Round 1 - Raiden/Kain/Other Dude. Target: 48%. GAME FUEL. Believe |

MnMZero | Posted 9/29/2008 10:15:11 AM | message detail |
Again, I look at last year's matchup with Gordon cleanly losing to
Sub-Zero, and most of the characters will be about the same strength
(except for Falco > Duke). And it's not like Scorpion disappointed
last year. He cleanly beat the hell out of Frog. And looking at how
Sub-Zero beat Gordon last year, I don't think the gap between Scorpion
and Sub-Zero is that
big where Gordon goes even with Scorpion, so Gordon's most likely
boosted a bit. Unless Falco comes in and easily beats them both, I
think next match is still a toss-up with a much stronger character in
Vincent stirring things up. --- Proud Supporter of Zero |

Bioshock and MK seem more "casual" whereas Half Life is more of a "hardcore" game. Bioshock... casual... you're joking, right? Obviously someone has never played it. --- Bacon, please just give me purgatory already. MyWorldisCrono has already been suspended for 7 days, the length of purg. |
HaRRicH | Posted 9/29/2008 10:22:08 AM | message detail |
I'll jump in with my anecdotal evidence that Portal has been much more
played casually speaking by my friends than Bioshock -- it's been
hardcore gamers I know that's played BS. Whatever that adds to the conversation. --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |

*shrug* No, I haven't played bioshock but my interpretations of
fanbases are usually correct. We'll see if Big Daddy and Scorpion take
off during the day vote, I guess. --- Master Chief's quest to defeat Cloud: Round 1 - Raiden/Kain/Other Dude. Target: 48%. GAME FUEL. Believe |

Bioshock is a very intense game. I'd call it more hardcore than Half-Life. --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |
MnMZero | Posted 9/29/2008 11:15:04 AM | message detail |
It's actually right in line with Half-Life. Most of the people who were really
anticipating Bioshock were the hardcore fans of System Shock. I myself
was really wondering what the big deal was. Bioshock just seemed like
another name I didn't know amongst other games that were being
anticipated (Mass Effect, Too Human, etc.) It was really that System
Shock/PC fanbase that seemed to hype up Bioshock in the months before
its release. --- Proud Supporter of Zero |
paraboxx | Posted 9/29/2008 11:30:14 AM | message detail |
Great to see it stayed close after all! Still no way to tell if this holds till 11, though. Either way...geez, Scorp, what the hell happened to you? |
Cavalier Lowen | Posted 9/29/2008 11:30:29 AM | message detail |
Falco would destroy this fourpack if the proportion between Ada and
Balthier holds. Who here wouldn't take him to slaughter Ada while in
the meantime Gordon and Scorpion are barely outdoing her on Balthier.
I'm almost 100% certain Falco takes second next match. --- FC=2707-1375-3667 Codename=Cav |

maybe Balthier got, well stronger. --- Del Boy:He who dares, wins! |
MnMZero | Posted 9/29/2008 11:36:14 AM | message detail |
Scorpion didn't exactly blow out his weak competition last year too in
the first round, yet he made Frog look like a chump with Samus in the
poll. Maybe the MK fanbase has a small, but hardcore fanbase? Sort of
like mini-Ryus? --- Proud Supporter of Zero |
RPGGamer0 | Posted 9/29/2008 11:42:57 AM | message detail |
Tweaking that sentence a bit makes "Maybe Balthier got. Well stronger." XD And I'm thinking that MK is actually more casual. Scorpion didn't do so hot against MM, Yoshi, and Samus, and while I realize that that's pretty strong competition, they're all heavily Nintendo influenced. Heavy LFF there, so I would think that a "hardcore" fanbase that's currently feeding Scorpion 28% would only back him with 17% in the MM/Yoshi/Samus match. --- A surveillance camera!? http://img.imgcake.com//lastcalvin&hobbes.jpg |
Janus5000 | Posted 9/29/2008 11:44:38 AM | message detail |
... Wow, they're still at it. This is like Liquid/Alucard, except with smaller numbers and a pending ASV. I'm also pretty stumped as to who gets it. --- http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g320/HowDisturbing/stayawhile.jpg Stay a while and breathe me in. |

he got in the MM/ Yoshi/Samus match." --- A surveillance camera!? http://img.imgcake.com//lastcalvin&hobbes.jpg |

transience | Posted 9/29/2008 12:01:19 PM | message detail |
hrm.. looking at the Sub-Zero match, Gordon fell the hardest during the
school vote and went basically even during the day vote. Sub-Zero went
crazy during the afterschool vote, even topping Sonic. ...was this match on a weekend? --- xyzzy "Man...tranny gets bored, the rest of us suffer." -satai |

Uh, if this were the same as Kefka/Vercetti, Gordon wouldn't be losing right now. --- Bracket: http://thengamer.com/guru/bracket.php?id=10 |
ExThaNemesis | Posted 9/29/2008 12:12:30 PM | message detail |
Same pattern, KP. I mean the random intervals in which Gordon goes up,
and then goes down. It's got the same five minute patterns
Kefka/Vercetti did, it's just that Scorpion's actually got the lead
right now. --- ExThaNemesis is the man. |
KamikazePotato | Posted 9/29/2008 12:16:26 PM | message detail |
Yeah, and Scorpion is doing the same thing. Both of them are dropping and rising randomly. Aaaaand ASV is here, looks like Scorpion wins. Bah. --- Bracket: http://thengamer.com/guru/bracket.php?id=10 |

Scorpion is still slowly, slowly increasing his lead though. Gordon
will win the second night vote, but at this rate he'll be too far gone
for it to matter. Actually, he's too far gone now, he needs to start
cutting consistently. --- Bracket: http://thengamer.com/guru/bracket.php?id=10 |

Were you not here for Kefka/Vercetti, KP? Scorpion's the only on who's been TRYING to follow trends in this match, much like Vercetti in the match. And then Gordon just ****s with everything, like Kefka did. And whining about cheating? I made one goddamn post. You need to chill out. --- ExThaNemesis is the man. |

Have you been looking at the vote totals? I was here for
