I don't think Vincent will hit 50%, and I never thought he would. I pegged him to be mid-high 40's, which he should have no trouble reaching now that the Board vote is over. |
PartOfYourWorld | Posted 9/27/2008 9:49:20 PM | message detail |
I don't understand the Cube support. Tidus/DK > Falco, and Cube won't have a strong character in there sucking up percentage. This result (assuming GlaDOS stays relatively respectably behind Falco) is good for Cube supporters because it demonstrates that GlaDOS is not pure fodder and has a core fanbase. Logic would dictate that the Cube (who most people thought would be a purely joke character) would also share this core fanbase. Joke character with small core fanbase > Joke character without one --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

I still don't see why he needs momentum when he's already developed
quite a fanbase after the last contest. There's a lot of people excited
over his return and will easily vote for him over anyone else. And
that's just on GameFAQs. He shouldn't have that much trouble, and once he's actually winning by a decent margin in Round 1, people will realize how horribly, horribly wrong they were. And boy, will I be laughing. This topic will be full of beautiful whining about how stale the joke is and how this ruins the contest, and I will just laugh and laugh and laugh and... laugh. --- SNES Reviews - http://mega64.20ehost.com/ "[Wylvane]'s the type of guy we probably need more of around here to keep the place interesting." ~Smurf |

I wonder where Glados will end up though. While Falco might go down
overnight, he should do well in the day. And you know Vincent will at
make a push for mid-40's, perhaps 45%. And since Falco shouldn't do
down too much, most of that should come from Glados one would think.
It'll be interesting to see what happens. If Glados can finish above 20%, that's pretty impressive. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

OK, but how is GladDOS a joke character? Once again, the point isn't that GlaDOS is a joke character, but that GlaDOS has a dedicated core fanbase, and this fanbase should (logically) also support the Cube. This is doubly so when considering he's up against a couple of guys that history has shown us can't get anyone to give two craps about them. I'm pretty convinced of bracket voters getting L-Block past
Metaknight, but Crono/Ryu is a complete beast of a team to get past in
the second round. He'll have zero momentum by then. Indeed, that is a real tough test. But the "L-Block for *repeat* champion" momentum will - very unfortunately IMO - be there I believe. I think people will get excited for a repeat performance. L-Block should do much better in the early rounds this year than he did in the early rounds last year, before his later momentum had built up. In other words, his static fanbase should be more solid early in this contest than it was early last contest (even though it won't be as strong as it was at the end of the last contest yet). And as we hypothesize, anti-votes should be diluted in this format. Which means people who would truly hate to see L-Block as champ again (like me) will sadly not have the influence they should. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

I already made a write-up on L-Block's upcoming match, but I won't post it yet. L-Block should hopefully have more bracket support on his side, with more people taking L-Block past the first round than in the contest last year. I also proposed the possibility of The Dog/Meta Knight SFF, due to Duck Hunt being a Nintendo game like the Kirby series is. If people want to rally behind The Dog to win the contest, you have zero hope of succeeding with a huge number of joke votes also going to L-Block you. Between The Dog and L-Block, you want to vote for a character who has a past history of success in the contests. The Dog is completely untested here. --- Luster Soldier - Popular at school. ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ |
