Whoever though KOS-MOS had what it took to beat Frog gets a big LOL outta me. This reminds me of the exact reason why I didn't take her. I have to agree here. Frog may have looked a little off last year, but he was still leagues ahead of KOS-MOS. And the beginning of this match proved that she draws little to none of her fans due to TJF, effectively sticking another nail in the TJF coffin. |

Sub-Zero wins. Blue is cooler than yellow,
Sub-Zero's decapitation fatality was cooler than anything Scorpion had.
And that... is really about all the reasoning you need with those two.

Division 3, Match 3 Falco Lombardi Team Star Fox finally gets another representative, and no, it’s not Slippy! Falco’s out to prove he’s better than Fox, but I think he’ll have a hard time doing that. A lot of people say he’s the fan favorite type and he could be stronger than Fox, but I see it as more of a Crono/Magus relationship. Either way, Falco’s not going to be that strong, and certainly not strong enough to get close to Vincent. He should be able to take second place without too much trouble, barring a massive joke rally for GlaDOS. We’ll have to wait and see. GlaDOS The first of Portal’s two entries makes her debut! For those of you who are staking your bracket on the Weighted Companion Cube, I know you’re shaking with anticipation about this one, trying to get a feel for how well a Portal entry will do! Well, really, GlaDOS can bomb and the Cube do well based on picture and name, even if no one has a clue what it is or where it’s from. I don’t expect GlaDOS to do much of anything. She might be able to stave off last place just due to how pathetic the competition is. Vincent Valentine The Noble Nine breaker (depending on your perspective on things anyway) returns, and he’s got a fourpack that’ll make him look very noble! Seriously, when your best competition by far is Falco (who can probably double the other two competitors on a good day), you’re bound to look good. There isn’t much to debate on this one other than the final percentage. As long as GlaDOS doesn’t pull anything weird, I can see Vincent getting over 50% of the vote here. Ganondorf and Dante did it against weak competition, and Vinny’s stronger than them both, so he can do it here. Wander The unnamed hero from Shadow of the Colossus returns, for some reason! He put up a pretty pathetic performance, not even being able to beat out a massively SFF’d Pac-Man. Don’t expect too much better from Wander this time around either. He might have a fight with GlaDOS for last place, or he could get owned by everyone, depending on how everything goes. Either way, he’s going to get blown out. Shadows Of Humongous Colossi Ain’t Helpin’ This One Advance Falco Lombardi – 22.20% GlaDOS – 14.54% Vincent Valentine – 51.05% Wander – 12.21% --- Squall Leonhart's Path to the CBVII Championship Round 1: CATS, Nathan Drake, Yoshi |

Match XI: Falco Lombardi vs. GlaDOS vs. Vincent Valentine vs. Wander Information: Name: Falco Lombardi Game/Series From: Star Fox series 2007 Results: Did not enter After many contests Falco has found his way in. In the Star Fox series there are always debates between who is the coolest character in that game, Fox or Falco and while it is always a heated discussion Falco and Fox probably get more of their strength from Melee and we all know which one is more popular in that game. Name: GlaDOS Game/Series From: Portal 2007 Results: Did not enter Technically GlaDOS is not a joke character and is actually a legitimate villain though if the voters treat her like that she’ll perform worse than if she was considered a joke character. GlaDOS pretty much has no good pictures of her and will be relying on name recognition alone. Name: Vincent Valentine Game/Series From: Final Fantasy VII 2007 Results: 1st in round 1, 2nd in round 2, 2nd in round 3, 4th in round 4 Last year Vincent’s performance was one of the most impressive ones. He destroyed Zelda, put up respectable numbers on Link and defeated Crono showing that the noble nine does not exist in this format and may not even exist in a one on one format. Sadly Vincent’s run was ended by a being SFF by Sephiroth. Name: Wander Game/Series From: Shadow of the Colossus 2007 Results: 4th in round 1 How did this guy get back in? Wander couldn’t even defeat Pac-Man who was going against his number one leech, Mario. Wander has no business coming back. I’ll continue the bashing during the analysis. Analysis: We continue through division 3 where we come along another potential nail biter. The two new characters could rank in different spots and there is some overlap between the two. Personally I don’t think this match will be close, but the power of the joke vote could change my mind. Vincent of course is taking first, his performance last year shows that he has what it takes to go up against some of the strongest characters and looking at his opponents none of them should be considered to be strong. Unless there is a huge surge of joke voters tomorrow Vincent could potentially push for 50% and anything below 45% would be a disappointment for him. Falco is the favourite in coming in second. While Brawl is not giving its characters a crazy boost like many people thought Falco was a popular character in Melee in his own right. In the never ending Fox vs. Falco debate I would like to say that Fox is much more popular as a Smash character. Both characters are clones of one another, but Fox’s rapid fire makes him the favourite out of the two in competitive and a non-competitive arena. Personally I don’t think Falco will be anywhere close in strength compare to Fox. The only reason GlaDOS is in this contest is because of the song Still Alive. I don’t think GlaDOS is the type of character that will gather much support from the joke voters unless Still Alive is played in the front page of GameFAQs. Portal was a decent game, but the demographics of GameFAQs don’t tend to go for PC characters. GlaDOS will start off strong, but will eventually fall as the day progresses. |
charmander6000 | Posted 9/27/2008 8:14:21 PM | message detail |
Tell me why Wander is back in the contest. Unless
he gets a match against Jade or something the guy is not going to win.
I have no problem watching fodder get in the contest, but if it is
fodder that we’ve already seen and that he has nothing new to boost his
strength then why should he return? The guy couldn’t even break 9% in a
match that may as well have been a three-way looking at the way Pac-Man
was SFF. By the way if you didn’t get it already Wander is coming in
fourth in this poll. Vincent first and Falco second, GlaDOS does have a chance at doing something, but unless there is some kind of huge rally I doubt it. Vincent has potential to make it to the finals this year though he needs to show some of his power that he had last year in this match. charmander6000’s Bracket: Vincent > Falco charmander6000’s Prediction: Vincent – 50.73%, Falco – 23.85%, GlaDOS – 16.83%, Wander – 8.59% --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB7%20BOP.xls Character Battle 2008: Points 26/36 Today's Match: Ganondorf > KOS-MOS |

You know, at first I thought GlaDOS would be similar to a joke
character... but when I thought more about it, I realized that while
she is hilarious, it's not nearly in the same way a joke character
works. (Although I maintain Deckard Cain was hilarious in the way a
joke character works, in spite of not being a joke character) If GlaDOS does well here, I feel better (or worse, I guess, considering I have it losing) about WCC just because it shows that Portal has a good backing, but not necessarily about the joke entries. --- Master Chief's quest to defeat Cloud: Round 1 - Raiden/Kain/Other Dude. Yeah, if GlaDOS wins it'll be because Falco fails. I mean, Fox did well
and everything, but he's the face of the series and more popular in
SSB. Lucario showed us that being part of the same series as a strong
character and being in SSB does not equal contest power. --- Bracket: http://thengamer.com/guru/bracket.php?id=10 |
Lopen | Posted 9/27/2008 8:30:31 PM | message detail |
Lucario's role is vastly different than Falco's, though. You pretty
much can't go anywhere Fox is without seeing Falco, and it's not like
Falco is grating like Slippy or uninteresting like Peppy. Falco should
do well, and if GlaDOS wins I'm inclined to believe in Portal more than
Falco sucking. --- Master Chief's quest to defeat Cloud: Round 1 - Raiden/Kain/Other Dude. Target: 48%. GAME FUEL. Believe |
