Mudkip stayed relatively static despite tougher competition last year, which is, from what we can tell based on last year's trends, possibly indicative of a joke character. If that's true, the stronger the competition, the better he'll look.

Zelda is going to be beat by another Pokemon.

From Day 1, I figured Zelda or Knuckles wouldn't hold up well enough in R2 to get third.

Huh, I forgot that Zelda got Jokemon'D last year. Kinda sucks how she puts forth a very good performance to make us forget about last year only to (probably) get Jokemon'D again. She's got my vote, dangit.

I expect Mudkip will spike for an hour and then this'll go back to being somewhat normal.

still not sure what to make of this. you really can't say anything definitively. I guess you could look at Lloyd vs. MMX one-on-one and extrapolate from that but even that's highly flawed

I love the little guy. I mean, I'd always pick a grass type over him, but I like how he dominates a contest.

I think this "static fanbase" thing is utter tripe. Mudkip is doing so well because he's up against X and 2 complete nobodies. Throw in Mario and Zelda and there's no way he gets 30+%.
MegatokyoEd | Posted 9/25/2008 2:44:48 PM | message detail
He was up against Luigi and two nobodies last year and didn't do this good. This is a stronger fourpack than Mudkip had last year unless you think MMX is Luigi level.

You could blame that on the fact that Mudkip was being SFF'd by Nintendo, which there will be 2 characters of in the next round.

LeonhartFour | Posted 9/25/2008 3:19:16 PM | message detail
Her fourpack isn't THAT bad. As a matter of fact, I'd say it's probably comparable to what she got last year. Nightmare and Crash combined is probably worth what Frog and Axel are, and Raz can't be too much worse than Kerrigan. The format will only help him.

Somebody (I believe it was HaRRicH) was asking in the last topic if we could do a percentage breakdown by time demographic (Power Hour, First Night, etc.). Well, I did one for the first match, and let's see what you guys think. If you think it's helpful, I might keep doing them.

Time | Cecil | Jade | Wario | Zack
PHV | 18.12% | 6.64% | 34.65% | 40.59%
FNV | 17.89% | 6.25% | 30.98% | 44.64%
BSV | 15.87% | 5.93% | 35.29% | 42.91%
DSV | 16.65% | 5.89% | 32.94% | 44.51%
ASV | 15.12% | 5.62% | 33.75% | 45.51%
SNV | 15.86% | 5.70% | 29.46% | 48.98%

PHV = Power Hour Vote
FNV = First Night Vote
BSV = Before School Vote
DSV = During School Vote
ASV = After School Vote
SNV = Second Night Vote

I apologize if the chart is hard to read.

If Mudkip can finish above 30%, it's probably safe to say he has boosted a bit this year. Holy ****! I was expecting Mudkip to slightly weaken a bit this year.

In the somewhat unlikely event that Mudkip can make it to round 3, we should rally Mudkip to win this contest.

I think Frog/Nightmare would be a close call, and there's absolutely no way Crash beats Axel.

I put the time to the far right so everything doesn't get so cluttered. Would it be better if I just put the timeframe instead and didn't worry about the names for the demographics?

Well, in my mind, it would probably go Nightmare > Frog > Axel > Crash, so it cancels out. Axel wouldn't beat Crash handily by any stretch of the imagination.

If they do get there, the match is likely going to be.... Link / Mudkip / Samus / L-Block.
