Chrono Cross has never shown any signs of popularity here, though,
aside from doing well on the top 10 FAQs/boards. Even on GotY polls and
stuff I don't think it broke 10%. Xenogears, of course, beat Pokemon

You know, I was thinking that Liquid might not only get past the second
round. He might make it out of the division. I think he can give X a
run for his money. I guess we'll have to wait and see how X does in a
few days. Only 8 Gurus have Liquid getting out of the division, for

2002 is ENTIRELY a different beast than 2004. It's dated, but most

| I can't see Fei doing that bad. Xenogears did beat Pokemon in 2004, plus he's got major SFF between the other 3 characters. I can see him breaking 15%. |

Noone likes that abortion of a game that crapped all and killed a great series. Not to be nitpicky or anything, but Chrono Trigger was only one game. I picked Phoenix because of the Bomberman/Geno comparison. They're
basically even going by their performances against Squall, but given
how long ago those matches were Geno was bound to trend down a lot. It

And am I the only one here who would take Geno > Phoenix in a heartbeat 1v1? As well as Bomberman? And yeah, I would. Bomberman > Phoenix for sure for me... I really don't know where I'd
fit Geno into the equation. I'm pretty sure I'd take Bomberman over
him, but for Phoenix/Geno I'd have a really damn tough time making a

Match VII: Fei Fong Wong vs. Knuckles the Echidna vs. Mario vs. Zelda Information: Name: Fei Fong Wong Game/Series From: Xenogears 2007 Results: Did not enter After nominating my favourites I tend to throw some support to characters that never made it before. Sadly with the 128 character bracket last year most of my supported characters got nominated. Fei moved up the list and made it to my nomination list. Now all we need to do is get Seifer in and my list from 2004 will be completed. Name: Knuckles the Echidna Game/Series From: Sonic series 2007 Results: 2nd in round 1, 3rd in round 2 The Sonic characters don’t seem to perform well in this format. Last year Knuckles almost lost to Rikku and if it weren’t for Vaan she may have beat him. This year Knuckles is the underdog going into the match and will require some help from another red man to win. Name: Mario Game/Series From: Mario series 2007 Results: 1st in round 1, 1st in round 2, 2nd in round 3, 3rd in round 4 Mario had a decent showing last year and with Super Mario Galaxy being released Mario is looking forward to a productive contest. The only thing slowing him down is Nintendo and Nintendo-like characters in every match he’s in. Name: Zelda Game/Series From: The Legend of Zelda series 2007 Results: 2nd in round 1, 4th in round 2 After being beaten worse than expected by Vincent Zelda is forced to go up against Link, the end result is her looking worse than Bidoof in the match. Zelda is now going up against another Nintendo character. Zelda characters have never been SFF by another Nintendo character outside of the series, but there will be LFF present. Analysis: Poor Fei, he finally gets in only to be up against three strong opponents. Unless something terrible happens to Zelda there isn’t any other option for Fei other than to come in last. Xenogears may have beaten Pokemon G/S/C back in 2004 though that was a time when Pokemon was hated. The game did perform decently against Final Fantasy despite getting SFF by it so Fei won’t be total fodder in this match. Mario should have no problem getting in first in this match though it will be interesting to see how much Super Mario Galaxy has improved his strength. Mario may be an icon and be known to all, but being in a LFF match in every round a recent game like Galaxy will be good to help swing undecided fans towards him. The real debate begins with Knuckles and Zelda. Whether you believe that Sonic characters are affected by Nintendo characters Zelda probably shares a bigger fanbase with Mario than Knuckles. The question become of whether or not Mario has the ability to SFF Zelda instead of just LFF. The only Stronger Nintendo vs. Zelda matches we’ve seen in contest history were Samus vs. Ganondorf in 2005 and Samus vs. Zelda in 2006 and by looking at the vote totals both characters were LFF each other, but Samus didn’t SFF Ganondorf and is she did it was unnoticeable. Of course a week later we all witnessed Mario SFF Samus into the ground so he may have what it takes to deal some damage to the Zelda characters. Knuckles is hoping that Zelda will get SFF enough to let him squeeze by. Zelda’s performance wasn’t that impressive though we were comparing her to her performance in the 2006 females’ bracket so our opinion may be a little bit biased.
