So I wonder what this all means for Pikachu and Ike. I think I'm going to hold off making any judgments about Brawl and its characters until I see what Ike and Meta Knight do. This makes L-Block look very good to get out of Round 1, and whenever
L-Block has gotten out of Round 1 in the past, he has gone on to win

I think most of us would have done better in this division by random picks <_< I used the random.org random number generator to generate an integer between 1 and 4 inclusive. If it chose the same character for 2nd place as first, I skipped to the next number. 4 - Zack - 2 points 3 - Wario - 2 points 3 - Shadow - 0 points 3 3 4 - Zidane - 2 points 3 - Marth - 2 points 1 - Duke - 2 points 3 - Issac - 0 points (1 if Altair > Isaac) 3 1 - Altair - 1 point (2 if Lucario > Altair) That's 11 or 12 points. I have a crackpot theory: Nintendo Contest Power went down after brawl. When Brawl was being hyped, Nintendo praise was at an all time high. Then people PLAYED Brawl, realised it sucked, and turned agianst Nintendo. I'd say kinda athing goes for Snake and MGS4..... WATCH OUT SNAKE! --- Warning, there is a bear right behind you. Let's seriously discuss this though. Let's say that this is all a result of massive public backlash to Nintendo's idiodicy this year, how does that affect the rest of the contest? Will we see Liquid go with Luigi or Bowser to the divisional finals? Is X spared from an SFF beatdown? |

I'd say kinda athing goes for Snake and MGS4..... The first part of your theory sounds pretty good, but I don't agree with the latter. Didn't people love MGS4? Sure, it didn't have a GameRankings average of 106% like Bribed Theft Auto, but I got the feeling that the fanbase reacted overwhelmingly positively. Hype's always more powerful than the actual release, IMO. Games almost
never live up to the expectations put on it, especially if it's a huge
name title. It's why I really don't think Sunshine being released on
the day of the match mattered for Mario > Cloud in 2K2. It could
have happened a week earlier, and I think the same result would have
happened. Look at the wave MC rode last contest, there's no way Halo 3 lived up to that massive hype train, and neither did Brawl. Obviously MC still benefits massively from the format, and I'm still banking on him to go relatively far this year, but I don't think he'll be as strong as last years incarnation. If Snake didn't have MGS4, I'd make the argument that he'd suffer the same backlash as well. --- hungry like the wolf |

1... and still doesn't. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it just has
always struck me as pretty damn unfounded. I had L-Block winning the
contest up until about 5 days before lockdown, when I switched to Crono
> Ryu to knock him out... and I'm uneasy as hell about that. I
basically went with what I'm hoping to happen to break my indecision.

If Nintendo knew how this new casual-centric attitude of theirs would
affect their GameFAQs Character Battle performances, do you guys think
they would have still released games like Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Wii

As someone who has Ryu > L, this doesn't really change my opinion. I
had it because I thought that The Dog would leech votes almost entirely
from L-Block, and if Meta Knight hasn't changed at all, everything
