Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. Round 1 Division 1- Match 3 Duke Nukem Last year he beat Gordon Freeman, only to get killed by Gordon Freeman in the second round... Wait, what? Kefka Ah, good old Kefka. It wouldn't be a Kefka match without uncertainty, and all of the uncertainty resulting from the fact that he should have no trouble with these jobbers, but has proven himself as a jobber many times in the past. Marth Coming off a respectable showing last year, Marth is back and doesn't have a Nintendo icon holding him back this time around. Probably the safe bet to win this fourpack. Niko Bellic The star of the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto 4, will he be a Vercetti, or a CJ? Analysis There isn't much you can definitively say in this match, and it is quite the crapshoot. Just like last year's debated round 1 fourpack, we do have a clearly weaker character in Duke. He just completely fell apart against decent competition last year, and not only that, but Marth is unquestionably stronger than Ike, which rules Nukem out. That leaves our other 3 characters in what should be a nice 3 horse race. Personally, I feel Marth's impressive debut last year, coupled with the fact that he is the sole Nintendo character here should mean he has little trouble here. That leaves Kefka and Niko. Niko is a bit of a wildcard. I think he'll be much more impressive than CJ, based solely on the fact that the mobster type of gangster is much more appealing to FAQers than the "gangsta" type of gangster. He should be at least close to where Vercetti was in his prime, comfortably above Kefka. Then again, Niko could very well fall flat on his ass here giving Kefka the bye. This is a match with very little solid evidence, so you have to go with gut feelings here, and my gut says Marth > Niko. Though I can definitely see Kefka taking the lead overnight and Niko needing to rely on a day vote to pull it off.
