Well, to be fair CATS also uses an in game sprite. I don't think Angel
Kefka looks very "sprite" like so I'm still somewhat confident it'll be
used. ... hell, confident enough to change my bracket Kefka > Marth

how many characters do you know that possibly get votes from simply looking like a stronger character? With Shadow it's part of his intrinsic strength, though he clearly subsists on more than a handful of "Sonic-proxy" votes (considering how terrible a character he is, it'd be a damn travesty if he didn't). Big Boss is probably the one character for whom we KNOW this is the case - the disparity between his R1 and R2 performances last year are about as incontrovertible as evidence gets in these things (unless someone wants to argue that SFF'd Pac-Man and Wander > Magus and Phoenix Wright). --- turnturnturn your brain in turnturnturn your brain in |

Just changed to Kefka > Marth, entirely based on the possibility of angel pic. Although if Kefka doesn't get it, I don't think I'm totally doomed anyway... it's always been a tossup to me without the pic. Kefka's being underrated here. I'm still expecting Marth to surge to a safe win and Duke and Niko to
neutralize one another with their casualness, thus giving Kefka the

The Duke is weak. DUKEFEAR is a result of him owning everyone last year. I wasn't owned, and so am immune to his threats. Zack will bomb Zack can end up pretty weak and still make it through. He has two indispensable advantages after the first round: he'll be sharing the poll with Link, and he'll be sharing the poll with guys more susceptible to Link's massive SFF range. Link probably won't fall below 60% throughout his divisional matches; when you have three other characters fighting for such meager scraps, one of them can luck out to a second place finish and still suck. --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

I also get the feeling he won't use the second pic because it features an in-game sprite (don't think that's against the rules, but it's pretty uncommon for the first round all the same). And Leonhart had a good point in his topic, which is that a lot of
Zelda's votes in a 1v1 come from name recognition more than people

Okay, I never thought about this, but how the hell did Pikachu gain so
much percentage last year going from Leon/Tidus/Vivi to
Leon/Dante/Amaterasu? Sure Amaterasu is a lot weaker than any of the
first 3, but Dante is also a lot stronger... I know Leon/Dante LFF and

Uh, I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as "Capcom" SFF. RE and DMC
are very similar (the original DMC was supposed to be a RE game), so I
can see those two fanbases overlapping, but I don't think Okami would
overlap with those games simply for being Capcom. That's another story
though. Back to Pikachu... shouldn't he have stuck out like a sore
thumb in the previous round? Yeah, Leon isn't Square, but I'd think

I remember being heavily criticized when I brought up the possibility
of significant Dante/Leon SFF last year. Never before did I wish I was

since the time that it was supposed to be a RE game. They aren't really
alike that much at all. That being said they SFFed each other for SOME reason. So uhhh... I dunno. It still doesn't make sense to me, though. Well of course the games are different, but it's a fact that DMC was originally designed to be a RE game and they scrapped that and made it a standalone game (and the game sprouted off of that). I just think that in spite of DMC being originally based off of the RE
games it still doesn't make sense to me why there'd be a big overlap,
because I don't think they're alike at all. I mean, that's a reason
that happens to work, but I just don't think it's the real reason for

Obviously, none of this REALLY matters since it's clear they share a
fanbase (or maybe Pikachu capitalized on droll pics for the two of them

The games appeal to a similar enough audience, but the characters
themselves are even more alike. Confident, badass humanoids full of
cool action scenes and dopey one-liners. Really, it's like comparing a

Games don't have to be exactly alike to draw from the same fanbase.
Resident Evil was a huge PS1 franchise. DMC was one of the first PS2
hits and had similar air to a RE game even if the gameplay was entirely
different (bad camera angles FTL!). Why wouldn't it be capable of

Anyways, I brought this all up because I was wondering whether or not
Pikachu might be strong enough to beat Alucard outright, but then I
