Wait, why am I not considering L-Block > Ryu for Round 2? That seems
like a potentially hilarious upset pick. Probably unlikely, but hell, I

Note: this is not going to affect most of the outcomes - just as,
for all the scaremongering about the Ninty Boost in 2k5, very few of
the actual results of matches were changed by it. It does, however,
reduce the chances of Snake > Cloud to little more than a fanboy

The original Xbox was reviled here - yet the 360 has thrived,
keeping far better pace with the Wii here than it has with the general
public I've been saying this for a while now, Sony still has their heads up their asses from the PS2 success, and Nintendo is off making money on its fad status, leaving gamers in the dust. The only real true gaming machine this gen has been the 360. I'm honestly not surprised that we're starting to see the shift go from SquareFAQs to NintendoFAQs and now to MicrosoftFAQs. Cloud and Link will still dominate, but expect third party characters to start looking better in comparison over the next few years. Guys like Mega Man, Ryu, Master Chief and the rest. |

Yes, it was hilarious, but if L were to repeat performance, it would
defeat the entire purpose of last year's run AND run yet another joke

It's kind of worthless in this format, at least. But Sonic has not only
Brawl but also Chronicles coming out soon, which theoretically will

remember. Crono hasnt had a game since....when was the last time CT got

...huh? I can name any number of matches where consensus is against the stats topic, yet it's seen here as a very viable pick. Kratos > DK in round 1, for example. Mario Kart > Mega Man, for one of our low points. Sub-Zero > Master Chief was one of our better moments - even the people who had the Chief recognized Sub-Zero had a chance there, while the board thought it would be a blowout. Vincent > Crono last year was easily the favourite in here despite Crono having the bracket advantage across the board. this happens a few times every contest, where statheads think differently. Master Chief > Sonic is a stat pick, for example, while Sonic > Master Chief would be considered "obvious" to most of the people on this board that don't frequent this topic. --- xyzzy http://users.tpg.com.au/112358//85454546braidav.gif |

| I can't see Chief beating Sonic. Even with how bad Sonic looked last year, remember that Chief was riding high off his biggest game midway through the contest. Although it wouldn't surprise me, I'm sticking with Sonic. |

I just switched to Big Boss > Kirby though hahahahahahaha oh my poor bracket Hey, I made that change yesterday! Can I get a little "we're doomed" ^5 ya Anyway, excellent couple of fat posts, KH. I largely agree with them, and my bracket has taken on an increasingly anti-Nintendo hue (although nothing has been too drastic outside of the joke character changes I made after yesterday's poll) since the bracket was first released. Brawl had to have been the most hyped game in contest history, and anyone looking at things objectively can see that it did not live up to the hype, at least not for a large swath of those anxious fans. This, coupled with the significant amount of disdain Nintendo has garnered from its more hardcore fans over the past years, will result in what I feel will be a lackluster contest for the company. At best, I feel Nintendo characters will be relatively stagnant. At worst, clearly weaker. Heck, I think even a stable Nintendo will feel like a failure to Board 8ers, seeing as how many of them are expecting Brawl's release to be a total game-changer. --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

I think expecting Brawl's supposed "failure" to carry over to
characters is a bit premature. it's not like they're going to drop

I honestly don't know what the hell this "Brawl didn't live up to the
hype" mentality is coming from. There are literally millions of people
who enjoy the game. Anyone who doesn't admit that doesn't know what the
