Nobody is saying Meta-Knight is garbage. Heck, he's probably one of the
stronger "pure Brawl" characters because he looks cool and is easy to
use/win with. However, I have no reason to believe that he'd be
stronger than L-Block. You've given no explanation as to why L-Block
will just regress to his pre-2007 strength. Why do you think this will

I feel more and more worried about Meta-Knight beating out the block
lately, if only because of the numbers. I'm not sure if L can get a big
percentage here and he may need it. I don't know what to do about this

You've given no explanation as to why L-Block will just regress to his pre-2007 strength. Why do you think this will happen? L-Block doesn't have strength like other characters do. SFF or whatever that aided it. It'll mean that he's 4REAL in a way that

L-Block will be stronger in his first match this year than he was in his first match last year. However...he won't be as strong as when he finished last year. If you recall, the entire internet was voting in those last few matches by that point; that's how much steam the block had picked up. If you try and spur interest with the contest again on other sites, people are going to give a "meh". And even if you told them L-Block was in it, they would have to mark their calender in order to vote for it, and at that point they would probably lose interest (as opposed to the final rounds of the last contest, where it was only a few days in between the Block's matches). |

| I think it is. I still say shock factor is very
important for a joke entry, and people are underestimating the impact

I do find it amusing though that while both Biolizard and I are calling

I'm not confident in pinpointing L-Block's end results, but I do feel
that arguing for an early exit would make more sense if the L is

heh. L-Block falling from where he was in round 1 last year just doesn't make any sense. you can dig out all the arguments about Laharl vs. L-Block and the expectations we had on L - there just weren't any. nobody was prepared for what was about to happen. now that people are, you think people are going to suddenly turn their backs en masse? I don't think so, and I don't see why you would. what I meant was definitive statements about how he's going to get 40% on round 1 or how he's going to bomb. that's just silly - nobody knows there. but common sense would have you say that he is going to be in the range of where he was last year, just like everyone and everything else. --- xyzzy |

I'm not being definitive. I think L
loses in round 1 due to general weakening due to loss of shock factor

You can't treat a character like L like a normal character, though. I've given reason for him to fall in round 1. Whether you agree with it is another story, but it's more than just "wildly grasping for anything just to see him fall." I don't claim to be totally unbiased but it's not as if I took MC over Crono in 2005 or something. What do you think Meta-Knight would get on Kirby barring SFF? R1 L-Block last year got 41% on Kirby. I believe this year R1 L-block is stronger than that, lets be cautious and say he would get 55% on Kirby this year in R1. (and that is probably in the low end of things) then factor in Dog LFF and take him down a few notches, say to doing 50% on Kirby. Do you think Meta-Knight is as strong as Kirby? Also remember that R1 L-Block last year had a pretty bad picture, and it took a while before people started getting the joke. Whereas this year the block is guaranteed good pictures from the get-go and everyone knows the joke. Most people have not spent a good part of the last year arguing about the block like you guys have, so while the block is not such a novelty this year as last; very few will have started to dislike it the way some of you have. --- Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die. |

To be fair, I only started spitting venom at L-Block once it eliminated
Kirby. (and I did call for him to win against Kratos and Riku in round
3!) Most people have not spent a good part of the last year arguing
about the block like you guys have, so while the block is not such a
novelty this year as last; very few will have started to dislike it the
