Come now, L-Block is beating Link and Cloud as we speak. It's not as if
adding pictures and stapling "Character Battle: Round 1" over the poll

this doesn't have me rethinking anything. this is, quite frankly,
expected, and I don't know why anybody would think a joke like that
would get old. I guess when you're surrounded by board 8ers who get

As I said earlier, if there's one thing I learned about the internet, it's that people love running jokes into the ground. I expect L-Block to win again, even over other joke characters. I guess I gave the internet more credit when I made my bracket. Actually, the fact that CATS and Fails characters continue to make the contests year after year are more than enough proof that nobody on this site has a concept of humour. |

oh man come back to my room and I get this crap... well at least it's making me feel better about having L as the champ still. maybe it shouldn't be though, but honestly who the **** knows at this point? it's a giant crapshoot, and it doesn't matter how well you predict your bracket and take into account actual reason if you don't happen to be lucky enough to guess who the winner is going to be this year. still hate that bacon ever thought it would be a good idea to start letting jokes into the contest, but what are you gonna do? hope and pray we never see 4-ways again and that a much needed games contest comes next, and that's coming from a guy who was more than happy to see character battle come year after year... that is until this. --- Don't worry. In the past I've suggested renaming it from the Nintendo Power Hour to the Old School Power Hour, which would pretty much cover the whole field of overperformers, I would think... Mega Man, Mario, Crono, Kefka, probably Pac-Man (don't have data on that one but I'd assume so). With today's poll though, yikes! Even after last year, I never thought I'd see Link thrashed like this in a poll of this kind. tranny is making a good point- to us, L-Block is old and worn out and needs to be buried, because we've been discussing him for a good 9-10 months now, but for the other 194,000 people who voted in that final match the Block phenomenon probably feels like it just happened the other day, and it's probably still reasonably fresh and funny in their eyes. On the other hand though, what if this result is the best indication yet that people ARE sick of L-Block and ready to move on? I mean we just saw him win the whole thing, yet now over twice as many people are picking against him in favor of "the new flavor of the week gimmick" option, for whatever that's going to represent. man, how funny would it be if two jokes both got far and lff'd each
other enough that neither got any further? cube and bag meet up in the
semis to let cloud/seph make the finals, or if either one meets up with

Hey, I figured this would be the best place to ask: Does anyone know if
there are any plans for the background on MMX's/Ulti's contest site to
be updated with the new characters from this year? I wanted to make a
poster of it, but thought that I should probably wait for the new ones
to be added first, so that it could have all of them. Here's the

l-block's stuck with The Dog and two incredibly strong characters in the second round. the cube and jinjo arent universal... i think sandbag only has a chance but his competition kinda hampers that; would he get more votes than L-Block? doubtful.. but he has the best chance nonetheless. --- *is Dranze* Explicit Contest is my lord. |

Meh, I'm not really interested in such a poll this year. I don't see
how he could do it. Calculating prediction percentages (which I doubt
he's done yet) just for an underdog poll doesn't seem like something
he's going to do. He could ask one about joke characters to see which

I'm currently in the process of joke-i-fying my bracket, an endeavor more horrifying than I could have ever imagined. I have L-Block and Link emerging from the top half, but the bottom half is much crazier. Here's my second semifinal: Cloud Snake Sandbag Sephiroth What in the hell happens there? If Sandbag makes it this far, it's safe to assume that Sephiroth finishes last, but the other three are up in the air. Does Snake take advantage of his two mega games and the Cloud/Seph split to beat both? Does Sandbag move on to the finals, and if so, does Link then utilize the Block/Bag split to win the whole thing? Well, the way the poll is worded, the people who think that a gimmick character will win don't necessarily want that to happen and won't necessarily vote
that way. They just think it will happen. It's possible that a lot of

I just can't see people voting for L Block again like they did last
year. They had him win, but the joke is over. Plus, he's sharing joek

Well, the way the poll is worded, the people who think that a

Based on this poll, he would be expected to get 46.5% on Link, which is right around what he'd get in a standard match. Why would Cloud do this well when his last bracket win was five years ago? Now, I'm not saying this poll is a perfect proxy for a contest match, but I do think these trends will generally hold true. Right now, L-Block is holding steady against the best of the best. I don't know, this poll seems weird to me, not because of Link/L/Cloud,
but because the field is doing so well. Why the heck is the "popular"
field in second, and, even more strangely, why is the "gimmick" field
in first? Couple that with L/"gimmick" field not having jokey patterns
(strong initial hours followed by collapse) and the field options
depressing the amount of votes needed to "win" among Link/L/Cloud, and
I'm not taking too much out of this. (I did make a joke bracket with my
alt, though). The real news in this poll is Cloud in last place - Zack is a flop confirmed. --- Mustache...and green... |

L-Block has showed a lot people that Link can be beaten given the right circumstances, so it's natural that people are going to be less supportive of him than they usually have been. showed a lot people that Link can be beaten given the right
circumstances, so it's natural that people are going to be less
supportive of him than they usually have been. I think Cloud staying
