Leonhart mentioned this in another topic and figured it was worth one
last look before the brackets close...but does Isaac stand any chance
to advance to the second round? http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2885 Isaac has gotten a SSBB-cameo since last year and Lucario probably won't match Pikachu...so that will close the gap there some (though I doubt either factor by itself will do a lot). Meanwhile, there's no doubt Altair > Serge-with-Tidus...but by how much? I think enough to beat Isaac and not really worry, but the way people have been doubting Altair lately worries me. I also don't wanna get Altair too close to Tidus...or, really, close at all, even Tidus-with-Serge. It seems to be a pretty unanimous thought that Niko clearly beats Altair and Niko is barely favored over Kefka right now... ...I dunno, it feels like it's worth a second look. Yeah, I think the match is being overlooked because of Isaac's apparent
weakness. I mean, he's fodder, but he's not bottom-feeding fodder.
Really, picking Altair is more for me of picking Not-Isaac than it is
picking Altair. I don't really know what to think of the guy, and I'm

I actually considered Isaac, because I really don't have much respect
for Altair. There's two things that lead me against picking him:
Lucario's going to be taking away most of anything he's gotten from
appearing in Brawl, and the threshold for taking second in that match
should be in the mid-twenties, and, against non-awful competition,
Isaac is only going to get so high. On the bright side, he has the most
favourable look (dude with a sword) in that match, so he might get
apathy votes. Of all the characters in the first round that no one really gave a chance, I think Isaac and Roxas have the best chance to do something. Unfortunately for them, not only are said chances not terribly high, they've both got a weight dragging them down (Lucario and Sho, respectively). --- Mustache...and green... |

I don't really expect Sho to weigh Roxas down, Square characters or
not. I'm a little more skeptical when it comes to LFF than others do, I

I generally more skeptical when it comes to LFF, as well, but when
you're already trailing your opponent, every little bit hurts. Plus,
the bigger the S/LFF between Riku and Roxas was last year, the better

For the record, Roxas got the equivalent of 39.39% on Riku based on
their match last year, which isn't half bad for an SFF match. For the
record, Riku went from 37.26% on Hayabusa to 50.67% without Roxas. He's

wait... what? Issac is only an AT in Brawl? Are you joking me right now? god damn I was starting to think there was something to that argument, but now I'm just laughing my face off. I haven't played brawl outside of the first couple weeks of it's release, because 1) my wii broke and 2) i dont really play vg's at my friends houses anymore. --- can you dig it? |

yeah actually I did, once the argument was being brought up for Issac

Hey, nobody was laughing at the idea of SSBB making Grey Fox the
strongest MGS boss sometime before the contest started, and Isaac needs
the exposure more than Grey Fox ever did. Still, I already said it's
not going to mean much by itself and it's already been acknowledged

I'm still totally bummed that there was no Raiden in Brawl. Or at least
a costume similar to what Mario had for Wario (though Raiden with no
cartwheels and the inferior Snake technique and finesse might not be
that fulfilling) What happened to the love for clone characters,

For what it's worth, I hate Lucario in SSBB and think Isaac's one of my favorites out of the AT/Pokeball characters. Eh, I know people weren't calling for MUCH gain for Isaac... but honestly, I'd call for nothing.
Forget "not much." I wouldn't even humor the idea of it breaking the
match if he beat Altair by like 500 votes, even without Lucario there.

I've got Isaac > Altair and had Roxas > Liquid at one point.
Changed the latter once I played TWEWY and saw some folks on that board
talking about how unfair it was that both Roxas and Sho share the same

We could be talking about Zack flopping in an hour, but now we have to wait another few days. Boo. On a slightly more serious note, I wonder if Zack will have the traditionally awful FFVII early vote. He's probably the most balanced character in the poll overall, as Wario should be strong during the day and Cecil at night (and the Colonel doesn't matter). The beginning of the first poll is going to be all bracket voting. I
don't think anyone here feels strongly about those characters (besides
a few, but there are always a few diehard fans for any character).

I think the board likes FFIV more than anything else. Though, I guess
it is unlikely that Zack will get antivoted (Aerith didn't last year,
and Tifa didn't the year before), and he's probably got a fair amount

well, anti-voting doesn't actually exist. it's just that it's their
weakest time and early voters are a unique bunch. it's not like they do
