But by talking about Vincent getting SFF'd by Sephiroth, you're
saying that Vincent got a lower percentage than he should normally as a
direct result of Sephiroth being in the poll. If anything, shouldn't
that mean that Sephiroth should have benefited from Vincent, especially
with Link/Mario LFF. Yet, Sephiroth's percentages compared to Link and
Mario aren't too far off from what their strength levels are. Nothing
really says that Vincent suffered from Sephiroth alone in that poll. That makes no sense. For sake of argument, and given the strengths of the characters, we'll say Nintendo beats Square 60-40 (as opposed to the actual 58-42). Link and Mario split their pie a bit more ovenly due to them both being stronger, and Vincent got plowed because A) He share more with Seph than Link and Mario share with eachother and B) He is much weaker than the other 3 to begin with. So seeing that Seph tripled Vincent, and Seph is probably getting at least 45% in that round 2 match, that means Tifa will probably get around 15%. Kratos managed 20% against Snake, L-block and Riku, definitely stronger competition with less SFF. Give me Mario/Luigi then Mario/Peach and we'll see who gets beat into the ground more despite Luigi sharing way more in common with Mario. Tifa is farther below Auron than Kratos is Ryu (I'd let Auron go 55-45 Tifa as opposed to Ryu probably 53/47 Kratos) and she shares more with Seph than Auron does with Cloud. This seems like a no-brainer to me. |

Tifa is farther below Auron than Kratos is Ryu First of all how do you figure that Tifa is even below Auron, let alone further below Auron than Kratos is below Ryu? --- Proud Supporter of Zero |

It's true. To me, at least, Tifa has always looked better or at least just as good in these things. ZSS or not Tifa did
pull 49% on Samus. There's nothing Auron has done in a fluke match or

Yeah, I don't know why Tifa is being treated like she is an Aeris or a
Princess Peach. She's not. She was legitimately stronger than Auron in
2005 and has since had KH2 along side Auron as well as Advent Children
and I guess an appearance in Crisis Core. Exactly why would Auron

Another thing to consider is gtalk on gmail... allows you to log into
AIM through it... though that might be similar to that thing you didn't
use. Anyway, honestly, this topic needs to disucss matches that are worth points. Samus/Crono/Vincent/Ryu and the subsequent Link/Mario/Samus/Vincent or Crono (or Ryu...!!) This is the thing giving me the biggest headache of the bracket. I have Samus > Crono and then Link > Mario (SFF be damned, Mario held up commendably vs Link last year). I'd imagine the favorite here is Vincent through both? Or maybe Crono? I have Samus > Crono and Link > Mario as well. I've already given
my reasoning for Crono beating Vincent this time around. I could be
wrong though. But I think Link not being in the poll dominating gives
Crono a little bit of breathing room. Plus Ryu draws from multiple
fanbases. It should be an epic duel. As for the next round, Link and Mario's presence will crush Samus. There's more than enough there to get away from a Vincent or Crono, who are far weaker at this point. --- Proud Supporter of Zero |

Both Mario and Samus held up reasonably well in the presence of Link
last year (Mario more than doubled a Vincent hurt by Seph, and Samus
beat a Seph hurt by Cloud). So while it's possible that Crono/Vincent
can slip through the cracks into the finals, the latter two are so much
weaker than the former two these days it seems unlikely. --- Mustache...and green... |

Auron suddenly be able to beat her 55-45? Agreed. Not buyin' that Auron even beats Tifa, much less wins with 55%. I think she's up there with Squall, or at least not too far off. She was impressive enough to be there back in 2005, and under normal circumstances, she would've been moreso in 2006 on the back of KH2 and AC. Not that this necessarily says anything this year because she's dealing with SFF the whole time, but any Peach comparison is just no good. |

Still, this made me want to look at something else. I don't think I've seen any comparisons of how systems have improved in ownership since last year. In that regard, I could see the fear of Nintendo being over-rated...but it's hard to keep growing as much as the rest when you're that far ahead, and SSBB's current-GotY status still scares me a lot. If I do take Samus > Crono, then I'd go Link > Mario. Right now I
feel pretty fine with taking Vincent again though. I definitely don't

I went with Glados for a while, under the impression that it was one of

Yeah, GlaDOS actually isn't a joke character, although people who
haven't played Portal may not know that. Cube, yes, GlaDOS is

disembodied voice for 95% of the game, and her name is never said

I still think GlaDOS has a chance. I have a feeling she'll get a good
boost from Rock Band and she's got a rabid Portal fanbase as her

I played Portal and loved it, and there's no way in hell I'm voting for Glados or CC in their matches.
