does Falco even have any real fans? it's not like you see Falco vs. Fox
arguments breaking out all the time. these guys are just cool cause
they're in Starfox 64 and they're good in Smash. they're not characters
people are crazy about - look how Fox fell apart to Mario - they're

Falco's jerkiness is what makes him cool, man! I mean... it's not like you see Fox vs Slippy arguments break out all the time either, but it should be obvious who's more popular there. I was mostly pointing at the series being called Star Fox,
and Fox himself being the face of the franchise. Falco is still the
sidekick even wtih the disparity not being as big as DK over Diddy. And
it's not an Auron/Tidus relationship where Falco is the obvious
favorite over Tidus. The argument is that Falco might be as popular as Fox. I never got any notion from the fanbase that Falco was more popular amongst the fanbase... And I thought that Diddy was always the favorite over DK as far as the DKC series went. And I thought this event spilled into DK64 as well. Diddy always came across as the favorites among fans to me. but nobody even talks about Falco. I've seen hundreds of top ___
character lists and I've never seen Falco on a single one of those.
he's just.. a Starfox 64 character. Fox is playable, he wins here. kinda reminds me of Crono vs. Magus in some weird way. Fox is pretty obviously the more popular of the two. --- xyzzy |

Seriously though, I think it's just that no one really cares about
any of them. All four of the main Star Fox crew and enjoyable enough in
their own games, but outside of that, who cares. I think plenty of people care. There just isn't enough personal screentime for any of the characters for fans to get really attached to them. They're basically the guys flying the ships spitting out one-liners. Star Fox Assault did a better job at getting the characters themselves more screentime, but the game was mediocre and went way under the radar. And there's no sign of Star Fox Wii. that said, I wouldn't put Scorpion out of reach for Falco. god knows
Smash is more popular than Street Fighter. Scorp's more iconic but I'm

question because I'm too much of an idiot to see why. in alucard/kratos a/falcon/diddy, why are people picking diddy and falcon and ignoring kratos? I mean, sure, ToS sucks in the contests and people seem to realize that finally, but Kratos A has proven he's the strongest one from that game. considering Diddy/Falcon brawl SFF, I thought it was an obvious pick. and uh I dunno if I'm just nuts or there's something I'm not seeing here. --- The more I learn, the more I realize I don't know anything at all. |

People give Kratos A a chance (well, sensible people), but there's a
large wariness of putting trust in Tales characters. Even though Kratos

Kratos isn't a bad pick there, but trusting in Tales characters is bad
news. This is probably the best chance he's gotten at winning a match,

we would have, but he got squeezed by the female bracket. Kratos has never been embarrassed though. a decent showing against Diablo and coming somewhat close to Midna when he wasn't expected to even compete. can't say the same about Lloyd (who's actually won a match) or hahahaha Zelos. --- xyzzy |

| At first, I put my faith behind the idea of a generally equal fanbase split between Diddy and Falcon, so Kratos A. was my guy. I switched to Diddy after realizing I didn't really think he could be weaker than Midna, especially after getting Brawl exposure. Diddy has a couple of million sellers on the SNES and the N64 (Diddy Kong Racing was one of that system's most popular games, IIRC), and he has now been re-introduced to fans in a very significant way. He still may be DK lite, but even that could be enough to edge by Kratos, assuming Falcon doesn't significantly hinder him. |

And about the whole "LFF" argument, why the distinction? Isn't the very definition of SFF having a fanbase split, rather than normal matches where there are 2 distinct fanbases? Lower votals are a reoccuring trend in SFF matches, so why were people surprised enough that SFF weakened the stronger characters in last year's matches? As I recall, Ryu > Bowser in round 1 was a pretty big upset despite the obviousness. Same with Ryu H > Riku |

Fox > Falco > Wolf > Andross/Peppy (either could be next in line) > Pepper/ROB > Slippy With that said, Falco is the badass of the group, and does have his fair share of fans. Fox, being playable and the face of the franchise is obviously more popular, but there shouldn't be too much of a gap. And the Fox/Falco argument isn't common, but it has happened before. Yeap. I knew it, too. Honestly Ulti, get off your high horse Raiden is the only reason we Mario pickers called it right. So when someone in here I *really* like more or less calls me a lucky dumbass, I think it's fair to take offense and lash out a little bit. I still say it's inconsistent to use the "it's freaking MARIO" argument and then have Crono beating him. Except I didn't think Mario had gone up. I figured Mario/Crono would be
the same as the year prior, and that Mario would SFF Samus for a win.
He didn't really need to go up to pull that off, but arguing over a
three year old contest is getting pretty damn stupid. But if you really
want, I'll stay out of any and all Mario/Samus 2005 arguments in this
topic from now on. I'm giving that up plus my LOL, X-STATS. Happy now?

if you havent noticed, this topic has been full of arguing over years
passed battles, and characters that arent even in the damn contest.
pretty much a result of bacon boning us with another 4-way, making an
overall weakass bracket, and then boring us to death with month to
predict it. i wouldnt be surprised if we were arguing over batman and superman by next week --- can you dig it? |
