I don't think Tifa's going to get hit nearly as bad as Vincent, who had
a whole bunch of things going against him in that match - one of which
was being entirely outclassed by three other opponents, not to mention SFF. How many people prefer Vincent fans prefer him over Sephiroth? How many Tifa fans prefer her over Sephiroth? I'd say the latter is less likely to suffer than former. It helps that Tifa's two opponents here are fodder - it's not going to take much for her to cruise by. --- Kept you waiting, huh? |

Oh. Well, round 2 is a bit different, but I wouldn't be entirely
surprised if Tifa won over Kratos. I had her moving on there for the
longest time before switching over to Kratos. SFF will probably do her
in there, but I see her as a semi-close third. --- Kept you waiting, huh? |

I refuse to believe Tifa has a shadow of a chance against Kratos. We'd have to be talking about like zero
overlap there, and Kratos - well, it's no secret that I have a lot of
hopes pinned to him, but even in the worst case scenario it should be a

Even with Sephiroth there, Tifa won't be too far behind Kratos. He still takes it comfortably though. |

I give Kratos plenty of respect, but I think you give him a lot more than I do. One-on-one? Tifa wins easily over Kratos, not even close there for me, but I saw you say you'd give him a shot at pulling off an upset there. I consider Kratos around Ryu level, who Auron nearly manged to beat with Cloud in the poll. I put Tifa on a similar level with Auron, too, but I have a feeling we disagree there. --- Kept you waiting, huh? |

Tifa=Auron is fine, but we're talking about a whole other level of overlap here. this isn't FF10 vs. FF7. this is FF7 vs. FF7. you could make this Sephiroth/Squall/Kratos/Ocelot and I still take Kratos. --- xyzzy |

Sephiroth has an anchor dragging him down. remember what happened in
that Ryu/Riku match? obviously the circumstances are different, but I
can see Kratos getting fairly close. I give Ocelot a better chance of
beating Tifa than I do Tifa beating Kratos. --- xyzzy |

It's not like Kratos himself will be 100% unaffected with Sephiroth and
Tifa in the poll. Sure PS2 vs. PS1 and all, but Kratos looked
particularly strong last year because he went up primarily against
Nintendo characters. Not arguing for or against him winning, but just

Tifa may be an 'anchor,' but this is still Sephiroth and Kratos. The difference in strength between those two spans entire tiers.
Again, I give plenty of respect for Kratos, but that's way too much for
my liking. Sephiroth is going to get a good bit more than 40% and
Kratos isn't going to crack 30%, Tifa in the poll or no. --- Kept you waiting, huh? |

I thought about the possibility of Ocelot over Kratos, but that's
pretty unlikely, even with MGS4 backing Ocelot. He'll do a lot better
than he did last year, but there's a sizable gap between the two that

it's tough to say anything conclusively about an L-Block match. Kratos
has a pretty wide range still. I tend to also put him around Ryu level,
though I'd take Ryu over him still. I don't think Tifa beats Ryu with more than 55% though. --- xyzzy |

If by Ryu you mean Ryu Hayabusa then you would be spot on. SF Ryu would destroy Kratos. I'm feeling that aside from Vinny, Squall Auron and Ganon, SF Ryu is right behind the Noble Nine. |

Eh, Kratos has a shot against Tifa, but let's not forget that he's a
Sony character too - he'll be suffering plenty of SFF himself
(Sephiroth is to Tifa and Kratos as OoT is to SM64 and Goldeneye? I

Nana probably won't be all that much worse than Captain friggin' Falcon I would take Captain Falcon over Nana by a sizable margin. F-Zero is not any great popularity generator but at least it provides a solid base as opposed to some obscure NES game from twenty years ago. Plus, I can't imagine that Ice Climbers are that popular of a character to use among the casuals. And thirdly, while it might seem obvious to us that Nana is an Ice Climber I would never understimate the stupidity of the casual voters when it comes to stuff like this. They couldn't even recognize Samus and Snake, and both of them had their most common names listed. --- You need to meet someone at a garden, or a movie or something. Somewhere classy.
