Well, we at least had a "Have you owned CT?" poll back in '05. Do you own a copy of Chrono Trigger? Actually Haste put them together, so he could explain in detail. But basically for the Raw stats, your value is based on your final match, with the base value coming from the winner of that match. So say Link and someone knocked out Samus and Ryu, and Sam got 21% and Ryu 15%. Link was at 59.90%, so just plug that into the 4-way x-stats calculator and it will tell you how much Samus and Ryu were worth. The adjusted stats are the same kind of idea, except Haste was careful to always select the match he felt was the most true representation of a character's strength. So for instance he used an earlier round for Auron, rather than sticking with the value from when Cloud crushed him. --- Hot Content: thengamer.com/xstats | board8.wikia.com He isn't a killer. Oh goodie, I just found the Excel sheet Haste sent over. Let's look at
a live example. Remember how the first Samus match ended like this? Axel 18.55% Frog 18.64% Samus Aran 51.75% Sarah Kerrigan 11.06% Well, creative came up with a formula that lets you just plug in results, and it will spit back out the x-stat values for that match. And those values are Axel 24.46% Frog 24.56% Samus Aran 50.00% Sarah Kerrigan 15.51% So now you just set Samus equal to whatever value against BL you want, adjust the other numbers accordingly, and you have the "pure" Raw values for the two characters eliminated, Axel and Kerrigan. Frog of course would not be affected by the result, since he moved on and would have his Raw value set in his R2 defeat. Adjusted is BASICALLY the same idea, except Haste did his best to not judge anyone in their LFFed form, or base any numbers off someone who was LFFed themselves. Why is Tifa < Kratos considered as a lock. 1: Sephy has never been able to SFF anyone. You can't say that Vincent got SFF'D since he was up against 3 of the four strongest characters in the contest, of course he would't get many votes. 2: Tifa has always been dominating in polls. Why would she stop. After all she almost won over Zero Suit Samus, despite having TJF against her. Then there's Kratos, who haven't done anything impressive at all. Yeah, 43% on Ryu pre-GoW2 is terrible (and with the casuals eating out of the palm of his hand to boot). Put it this way - I'd consider Kratos > Tifa as a feasible upset 1v1 this year (albeit a longshot). It's really not, especially when you look at how well Mario held up. And Tifa isn't going to be a powerhouse in this format because no one actually cares about her. The only reason she and Aeris do well in 1 on 1 is because they're from FF7. Remember how badly Aeris did last year? This is why I wish this contest was 1v1 though. Characters like Kratos
are just raring to stretch their legs against proven competition
mano-a-mano, and then you have characters from Sonic Team who seem to
be hurt by the format. For all we know Brawl could have given Sonic a
Snake-level boost, but the format diluted or masked the entire thing.
And then of course there's L-Block, whose intrinsic strength would be
much harder to peg than anything happening this contest (I'm of the
