Thanks to all who commented on my surprise return to this very thread.
:) It is as always very much appreciated! Good comments, bad ones
too...its all good, for even when the haters see fit to bash the Sage
of Board 8, I will always smile, the way a fanbaby smiles when they see
a joke character they support wholeheartedly make the bracket in place
of more deserving characters! *points to the mutt in the middle of the
bracket...* Well all the longtime regulars surely remember my lovely perfect bracket in the Best Series Ever contest, only to have it snatched away when Street Fighter lost by the narrowest of margins in the end of the second round to RE, my sexy upset pick down in flames even though it only lost by like what..1%? Had it pulled off the stunner, I might have went all the way... *weeps* Nevertheless, my legend was cemented here back on those hot summer nights... For those who dont know, Rydia is my 3 year old daughter's name, so it is quite surreal to see her namesake character finally in the contest. Seeing her there when I checked out the bracket last night for the first time, I had planned to only analyze her first round match as a tribute to analyses past, however, with all the love and support I am getting here and on AIM, I just might analyze all the lovely matches in this contest until my bracket is decisively defeated, though this year I dont plan on letting that happen too quickly...not when I use my time honored Theory of Frogability and other complex mathematical equations I employ. :) The people want Illumina, so Illumina you shall get! Being 30 and all, I am still one of the elders of this thread, and as such, it is my sworn duty to enlighten and entertain the masses with analyses worthy of debate, praise, and bashings too. Basically, Arthas is the main character in the Warcraft franchise. Thrall is one of the main Orcs. wow, this says good things about Arthas in his match then. Thrall did pretty well for a non-playable character; imagine what the actual playable character would do. --- *is Dranze* Explicit Contest is my lord. |

Retooled my bracket with very little faith in any of the joke
characters (none of them make it past Round 2). Looks strange. Very

Diablo beats Arthas with a little breathing room, however last year's
match really spoke well for Arthas for me. That combined with point 2,

| Oh, Diablo would wreck him, I'm sure. And that
match comes down to how dedicated Ike's fanbase really is. I wouldn't
really consider Arthas in this case if I weren't so worried about
Pikachu stealing most of Ike's thunder. This is still a good testing
point for Arthas. We saw him underwhelm with an unfavorable position
last year, but this is his chance to prove himself. --- Explicit Content, what else has to be said? |

I have Marth > Niko and Lucario > Altair Round 1, followed by
Niko > Marth for the second round. Initially Lucario felt like a
powerhouse (I even had it getting first in R2 at one point), but then I
realized he's probably lightyears behind Mewtwo, and is most likely

| People like to ignore the fact that Marth also had
Melee, and is much more popular in Brawl. Sure, they'll "split" the
Smash vote but it decisively goes to Marth... more than enough to make

Is it too crazy for me to have Lucario going into the Sweet 16? I guess
it also depends on who you have going into Round 3 under Lucario. Is the Lucario movie popular/out in the US? just trying to see what could make him popular aside from Brawl and D/P. Pikachu and Mewtwo are original 151pokes with plenty of factors to help them out but Lucario,well i can't see him being more popular than Charizard so i'll just make my decisions based on how i think something weaker than charizard will do. --- Del Boy:He who dares, wins! |

I grant you that his position was definitely unfavorable, but he wouldn't even be considered for this match if it wasn't for last year.Most bracket-makers here didn't seem to know who he was and expected him to barely be enough reason for Diablo to lose to KOS-MOS. Turned out Arthas beat Diablo instead, and he would have likely beaten KOS-MOS one-on-one last year. Yeah, Arthas did a great job last year. On the one hand, that match perfectly
demonstrated the fanbase split theory so many of us were banking on
throughout the contest. On the other hand, absolutely no one expected

when you think about it Zack being strong makes some sense,I mean
Vincent is an optional character and you most likely need and FAQ to
unlock him,those people would probably also find out about Zack later
on. He's got the buster sword,his own game and a minor cameo in FFVII AC,his face should be relatively known by now and FFVII crowd on this site is bound to know who he is. So i think he'll be vincent-lite. --- Del Boy:He who dares, wins! |

Arthas ain't touchin Pikachu or Alucard. And Zack being strong doesn't make sense because... yes, Vincent is "optional" but at least if you get him he's pretty damn cool. I'll take Arthas over Diablo, especially with the new WoW expansion

CJ was able to nearly beat a Super Smash Bros character. If MacMillan
