what do you mean nearly,it's an ulti style blowout and Ness sure did
well against liquid/alucard,there wasn't even a freakin nintendo
character to leach his votes. --- Del Boy:He who dares, wins! |

I mean I don't think MacMillan will advance, but I wouldn't be SHOCKED if he did. --- Vote for Hogger! He's the hardest boss to ever exist, and he roundhouse kicks Chuck Norris. |

You know, I've actually played a good amount of CoD4, but I didn't
remember that name at all. The series doesn't really do much for name
recognition, so I'm expecting Capt to stick around Hale's level... --- Explicit Content, what else has to be said? |
MyWorldIsCrono | Posted 8/23/2008 12:39:51 PM | message detail |
He's the leaf dude. --- Vote for Hogger! He's the hardest boss to ever exist, and he roundhouse kicks Chuck Norris. |

at best knowing he comes from CoD i would put him on Fenix level, but right now i'd take lara and crash over him. --- Del Boy:He who dares, wins! |
voltch | Posted 8/23/2008 12:44:31 PM | message detail |
after seeing that pic i'd put siegfried above him[sc4]>that. but i'm surprised lizardman, cervantes and killik never made the field. --- Del Boy:He who dares, wins! |

I've BEAT CoD4 and I still had no idea who MacMillan was. The dudes in ONE level of the game. --- Demyx is better than Axel. Just like Explicit Content is better than me for winning the Guru contest. |
KamikazePotato | Posted 8/23/2008 1:29:20 PM | message detail |
I doubt Pikachu drains as much of Ike's SSB vote as some of you are
thinking. Pikachu is considered one of the more 'annoying' characters
by casuals and even non-casuals; Ike is going to hurt Pikachu more than
Pikachu hurts him. Not to mention Pokemon seems to be more seperate
from other Nintendo characters anyway. --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
MyWorldIsCrono | Posted 8/23/2008 1:46:33 PM | message detail |
ikes only mass appeal is being in SSB. If you think that a mediocre
received and low selling series will help Ike do anything, you're
wrong. So his only support is same fanbase as Pikachu from SSB, not
countign the pokemon factor. --- Vote for Hogger! He's the hardest boss to ever exist, and he roundhouse kicks Chuck Norris. |
HaRRicH | Posted 8/23/2008 1:47:02 PM | message detail |
For the record, through my experience, casuals LOVE Pikachu solely for his down-B. Ike's better casual bait, yeah, but Pikachu's no casual scrub and he's been in all the SSB-games. --- NRT winners: Pokemon R/B/Y, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=44623118 |
KamikazePotato | Posted 8/23/2008 2:12:32 PM | message detail |
True, but it's just about their charisma. Ike's not the kind of guy I
see casuals picking Pikachu over, really. It'd be like asking them to
pick Jigglypuff over him (well not as bad as Jiggly, but still). --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
MoogleKupo141 | Posted 8/23/2008 2:35:43 PM | message detail |
MacMillan is going to be so bad. So bad --- For your health. |

that and he's the only non-nintendo guy there. ike and pikachu arent exactly beasts over Arthas.. i'd imagine. --- *is Dranze* Explicit Contest is my lord. |

Spy isn't Nintendo. --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
PartOfYourWorld | Posted 8/23/2008 3:12:23 PM | message detail |
If Arthas makes it (a realistic possibility), I very much doubt anyone
but ratface would be joining him. It's painful to admit, but Pikachu
did really, really
well last year. Even in his swan song, he managed to sneak within 5% of
Luigi, finishing with 18% of the vote against the impressive line-up of
Luigi, Dante, and Chief. Can post-Brawl Ike manage something similarly impressive? Doubtful. I still have him moving on with Pikachu, but if I start to gravitate toward Arthas sometime, it'll be Ike who gets the boot. --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

I don't know why Bacon bothers putting up the character descriptions. No one seems to use them. And before I continue, I know fully well that Arthas advancing is a possibility and that it could go either way. With that said, I am still arguing and rooting for Ike 100% of the way. And no, there's no way Ike does as well as Pikachu. Pokemon are...different. --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
PartOfYourWorld | Posted 8/23/2008 3:18:17 PM | message detail |
Same; I hope Ike does well, but it sadly can't come at Pikachu's expense. OR MAYBE THIS IS JUST MY BEST JINX YET --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |
HaRRicH | Posted 8/23/2008 3:21:37 PM | message detail |
I'm rooting for Ike too...just saying, it's Pikachu's to lose. Slow really needs to come and call it for Pikachu though. --- NRT winners: Pokemon R/B/Y, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=44623118 |
Wii_TuRtLe | Posted 8/23/2008 3:27:50 PM | message detail |
What? It's obvious it's going to be Pikachu/Arthas in the first round,
I'm saying I have no faith in Arthas beating Alucard in round 2. --- Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy. -trancer1 |
MarioSuperstar | Posted 8/23/2008 3:30:52 PM | message detail |
Spy isn't Nintendo. well, non-nintendo character that matters... >_> my point is, he'll get all the "yawn nintendo" votes since Spy is relatively unknown. --- *is Dranze* Explicit Contest is my lord. |
KamikazePotato | Posted 8/23/2008 3:34:51 PM | message detail |
So you're saying people who don't like Nintendo but don't know the
other two characters would vote Arthas over someone named Spy? --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
MarioSuperstar | Posted 8/23/2008 3:39:24 PM | message detail |
no. he'll get the votes from the average non-nintendo fan since it's obvious he > spy. he'll grab the non-nintendo casual support in other words. --- *is Dranze* Explicit Contest is my lord. |
KamikazePotato | Posted 8/23/2008 3:40:28 PM | message detail |
That sort of thing doesn't really happen. When people don't know any of
the characters they just don't vote or bracket vote, and Ike will have
the bracket advantage anyway. --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
Lady Ashe | Posted 8/23/2008 3:42:00 PM | message detail |
KamikazePotato (#482) If I don't know any of the characters in the poll I vote for the one I think I would like most. Arthas would definitely fit the bill there. << --- http://backloggery.com/embok/sig.gif |
MarioSuperstar | Posted 8/23/2008 3:43:21 PM | message detail |
look, i'm not saying they dont know ANY characters. he will just get the people who are not nintendo fans they exist you know.. jesus. --- *is Dranze* Explicit Contest is my lord. |
KamikazePotato | Posted 8/23/2008 3:47:25 PM | message detail |
That's kind of reaching. --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
HaRRicH | Posted 8/23/2008 3:48:07 PM | message detail |
Ike with the bracket advantage? If I remember correctly, Pikachu was
favored to win his four-pack over Tidus/Isaac/Serge while both Gordon
and Duke were favored over Ike... ...now, Ike'll have more faith behind him this year, but Pikachu's gonna rock him on bracket support. --- NRT winners: Pokemon R/B/Y, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=44623118 |
KamikazePotato | Posted 8/23/2008 3:50:46 PM | message detail |
Ike was not in Brawl last year. Christ people. --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
MyWorldIsCrono | Posted 8/23/2008 3:52:59 PM | message detail |
I'd say Arthas would have bracket advantage over Ike. Ike is more well
known on b8, but the bracket is more close to the general gaming
populace (reason that GTA Characters and MC were always Bracket picks),
and Arthas is more well known among the gaming public then Ike. I mean
hell, the pic of Arthas from the Frozen Throne box is one of the most
popular video game avatars (I've seen at least 50 different people on
different forums of that avatar of Arthas) --- Vote for Hogger! He's the hardest boss to ever exist, and he roundhouse kicks Chuck Norris. |

HaRRicH | Posted 8/23/2008 3:58:57 PM | message detail |
I'm well-aware, but Marth also had shoddy bracket-support last year.
Tougher opponents and he was new, yes, but it still stands. In the
four-way in question, Pikachu is by FAR the most well-known name, the
most recognizable by picture, the most successful in last year's
contest, and comes from the biggest series. Throw in the trends seen
last year that Pika will probably still have better bracket-support,
and Ike's not contending with Pikachu on bracket-support. --- NRT winners: Pokemon R/B/Y, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=44623118 |
KamikazePotato | Posted 8/23/2008 3:59:48 PM | message detail |
I meant bracket support over Arthas. --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
PartOfYourWorld | Posted 8/23/2008 4:02:02 PM | message detail |
Shifting gears a bit, what do you guys think of Roxas possibly
upsetting Liquid Snake? We all saw how well Axel did last year, and
Roxas was cursed with an awful first round match. If anything, I'd
consider Axel's strength last year to represent a very conservative
strength value for Roxas (though I hesitate to say "floor"), but I have
no idea just what roll, if any, Liquid played in MGS4. --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |
HaRRicH | Posted 8/23/2008 4:02:08 PM | message detail |
Ah, my bad... ...probably by the people who don't keep up with contests, probably not by the people around here. I imagine Ike and Arthas will be close to equal on bracket-support, with Arthas having the edge in numbers but Ike having the edge in dedication. --- NRT winners: Pokemon R/B/Y, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=44623118 |
MyWorldIsCrono | Posted 8/23/2008 4:04:16 PM | message detail |
In the general public, Arthas is definently more well known due to the
hype of Wrath of the Lich King, and Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft
being huge selling games. SSBB sold what, 5 million or so? Thats abotu
the same as Warcraft 3, PLUS theres World of Warcraft which blows away
the Fire Emblem games in sales. Maybe Ike is more well known in general
on this site, but not in general gaming public. --- Vote for Hogger! He's the hardest boss to ever exist, and he roundhouse kicks Chuck Norris. |
KamikazePotato | Posted 8/23/2008 4:04:51 PM | message detail |
Liquid was kind of important in MGS4, I think. I considered Roxas but
Neku being there was what kept me. Every little thing counts in an
untested character. And yeah, casuals will mostly pick Pikachu>Ike mostly while it'll be even here. But like I said, every little thing counts. --- Brawl FC: 4296-2658-3681 (KP) |
PartOfYourWorld | Posted 8/23/2008 4:05:20 PM | message detail |

Liquid should beat out Roxas, and I'll maim a furry animal otherwise. --- But the scars of memory never fade away. I can't stop loving you. Stop my tears. Stop my loving. Kill my memories. |
HaRRicH | Posted 8/23/2008 4:10:25 PM | message detail |
Well, Axel barely lost to Frog last year who barely beat Liquid four
years ago. Riku barely beat Hayabusa pre-NG2 when Roxas left and we
know Riku > Roxas...and I would think Liquid would keep up with
Hayabusa if not win it. Liquid barely beat Alucard and Ness last year,
two opponents I'd find tough for Roxas. We also remember Solid smashing
Sora, and some assume Solid smashed Riku too...though Solid >>
Liquid, Liquid may have that x-factor in his favor. There's a big Metal
Gear fervor going on lately, too, and Square not announcing KH3 this
year was a missed opportunity for hype... ...Roxas is in the match, but I like Liquid a lot in it. --- NRT winners: Pokemon R/B/Y, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=44623118 |
